A LEDVANCE Renewables Emerges as New Bet of the Company in the Photovoltaic Energy Universe

In a strategic move towards sustainability and innovation, LEDVANCE, recognized worldwide in the lighting sector and present in more than 150 nations, announces its expansion into the renewable energy sector. With the introduction of LEDVANCE Renewables, the company launches its new business unit focused on manufacturing and offering solar photovoltaic energy systems and integrated solutions aimed at residences, commercial establishments, and industries.

This initiative marks a significant step in LEDVANCE’s strategy to promote smart living, further emphasizing its commitment to sustainable practices. “Expanding our product range to include photovoltaic solutions resonates with our commitment to provide smart and effective options, aligned with sustainability and ecology values,” comments Everton Mello, CEO of LEDVANCE for Latin America.

Innovation and Sustainability as Pillars

LEDVANCE’s trajectory is notable for its emphasis on the development of products that prioritize human well-being, including solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial lighting that integrate the Human Centric Light (HCL) concept and IoT technology. With LEDVANCE Renewables, the company aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem of clean and smart energy, uniting its traditional lighting divisions with this new front of renewable systems.

“The launch of this unit fills us with expectations, especially because it reinforces our investment in renewable sources at a time when Brazil stands out in this segment. Solar energy has already surpassed other sources, such as wind energy, in the country, presenting vast expansion potential,” highlights Mello.

The portfolio of LEDVANCE Renewables includes everything from photovoltaic modules to microinverters, string/on-grid inverters, hybrid inverters, batteries, and various accessories, all produced by MLS, a Chinese conglomerate that owns LEDVANCE, in its factories located in various Chinese cities.

The Brazilian Solar Energy Landscape

Recent studies, such as the one conducted by Ember Climate, highlight Brazil as a leader in green energy in Latin America, with 86% of electricity coming from renewable sources. Latin America imported about US$ 26 billion in solar panels from China over the past six years, with Brazil accounting for 58% of that total. In addition, the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) reveals that solar panels now represent about 16% of the total electric energy in Brazil, with 34.2 megawatts of installed capacity, surpassed only by hydroelectric energy.

A LEDVANCE in the Global Scenario

LEDVANCE positions itself as a global leader in lighting, impacting the market and the environment with its solutions for clean energy and smart lighting. Originating from OSRAM’s general lighting division, the company offers a wide range of products, from LED luminaires to smart solutions and advanced lamps. With its entry into the solar energy sector in 2024, LEDVANCE not only diversifies its portfolio but also reinforces its role as a change agent for a more sustainable future.
