Solar panels at sea can generate up to 12% more energy than land-based plants, study finds: Researchers from Taiwan discovered that offshore solar panels take advantage of the natural cooling of water to increase electrical efficiency, reduce heat losses, and expand renewable energy production in regions with limited available land space.
“The launch of this unit fills us with expectations, especially because it reinforces our investment in renewable sources at a time when Brazil stands out in this segment. Solar energy has already surpassed other sources, such as wind energy, in the country, presenting vast expansion potential,” highlights Mello.
The portfolio of LEDVANCE Renewables includes everything from photovoltaic modules to microinverters, string/on-grid inverters, hybrid inverters, batteries, and various accessories, all produced by MLS, a Chinese conglomerate that owns LEDVANCE, in its factories located in various Chinese cities.
The Brazilian Solar Energy Landscape
Recent studies, such as the one conducted by Ember Climate, highlight Brazil as a leader in green energy in Latin America, with 86% of electricity coming from renewable sources. Latin America imported about US$ 26 billion in solar panels from China over the past six years, with Brazil accounting for 58% of that total. In addition, the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) reveals that solar panels now represent about 16% of the total electric energy in Brazil, with 34.2 megawatts of installed capacity, surpassed only by hydroelectric energy.
A LEDVANCE in the Global Scenario
LEDVANCE positions itself as a global leader in lighting, impacting the market and the environment with its solutions for clean energy and smart lighting. Originating from OSRAM’s general lighting division, the company offers a wide range of products, from LED luminaires to smart solutions and advanced lamps. With its entry into the solar energy sector in 2024, LEDVANCE not only diversifies its portfolio but also reinforces its role as a change agent for a more sustainable future.
