Leveraging Its Extensive Experience in Building Transmission Lines, SKIC Brazil Is Ready to Capitalize on Promising Opportunities in This Sector, Starting with Auctions for Energy Transmission Infrastructure Construction.
The sector currently faces a significant deficit in its energy transmission infrastructure, especially concerning the wind and solar power plants currently under construction. The expectation is that this deficiency will persist until 2030. Consequently, four auctions are planned for the acquisition of new energy transmission lines that connect these wind farms to the National Interconnected System (SIN).
These auctions, scheduled for June, July, October, and December, have attracted significant market interest due to the importance of transmission infrastructure and the investment opportunities it presents, with EPE estimating an investment of around R$ 50 billion. SKIC Brazil is among those anticipating a positive impact on its operations, particularly in the areas of engineering and construction.
What the Company Says About the Expansion of Energy Transmission Networks
As the Brazilian subsidiary of Sigdo Koppers Ingeniería y Construcción, one of the largest engineering and construction companies in Latin America, SKIC began its operations in Brazil in 2016, installing the first transmission line project in the country, and since then, more than 2,000 kilometers of lines have been built.

After nearly 30 bids and competition among industry giants, a Spanish company purchases one of the largest airports in Brazil for almost R$ 3 billion and takes over the management of Galeão in a concession that will last until 2039.
The company will participate in this year’s auction in partnership with competing companies for the transmission line concessions, which have already signed pre-contracts for the construction of the infrastructure.
“The transmission line sector will be one of our priorities this year. The infrastructure is the final step to bring the 6,000 MW of renewable energy generated by the new park to the consumption center. We want to contribute with our expertise to this crucial phase of the operation knowledge of the wind farm,” says Robson Campos, CEO of SKIC Brazil.
The company recently signed a contract to build a 636 MWp (megawatt peak) solar power plant for Auren Energia, located in the state of Minas Gerais. In addition to the plant, SKIC will also build a 230 kV transmission line approximately 8.7 kilometers long, connecting the future park to the National Interconnected System (SIN).
According to the Electric Energy Commercialization Chamber (CCEE), between 2026 and 2028, 241 new photovoltaic and wind farms will be built, further increasing the demand for transmission lines.
SKIC Advances in Other Areas of the Brazilian Market
Since the beginning of its operations in Brazil in 2016, Sigdo Koppers Ingeniería e Construcción (SKIC) has established itself as one of the leading engineering and construction companies in the country, thanks to its technical excellence in executing high-complexity EPC projects across various industry sectors.
The company’s operations in Brazil began in the energy sector with electricity transmission projects, connecting various states and generating parks, during which the company constructed more than 2,000 kilometers of lines in Brazil. As a specialist in the mining industry, especially in Chile, SKIC implemented plans in 2021 to advance in this market in Brazil, as well as in the areas of steelmaking, heavy industry, thermal energy, and renewable energy generation.
