Construction Works of the Itabapoana Project Aim to Strengthen the Flow of the Thermoelectric Potential of the States of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo and Promises to Generate Nearly 4,000 Jobs!
Neoenergia is advancing with its transmission projects, and many job opportunities will be generated. The company has started the construction of the Itabapoana line, located between the states of Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, and Rio de Janeiro. The project was acquired by the company in lot 3 of the auction held by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) in December 2018.

There will be 239 kilometers of double-circuit line constructed between the Mutum (MG) and Campos 2 (RJ) substations, with a voltage of 500 kV. The installation license, which allows for the construction of the project, was issued by Ibama (Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources).
“The Itabapoana transmission line is another investment by Neoenergia that contributes to the security and reliability of the electricity sector, which is important for the country’s development, in addition to reinforcing the infrastructure for the flow of the thermoelectric potential of the states of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo.”, says Transmissions Director Fabiano Uchoas.

Implementation of the Itabapoana Line Promises to Generate 1,500 Direct Jobs and Over 2,200 Indirect Jobs
Aligned with the company’s commitment to promote socioeconomic benefits in its areas of operation, the implementation of the project will also assist the region with the creation of job opportunities. The company’s estimate is to generate 1,500 direct jobs and over 2,200 indirect jobs. Part of the resources for the installation of the asset comes from a green bond issuance, conducted by Neoenergia in March 2020.
The Itabapoana LT has operational synergy with another project acquired by the company in the same auction, the LT Guanabara (lot 2). The asset will have a length of 328 kilometers in Rio de Janeiro and plans to construct the new Campos 2 substation.
