BYD electric SUV debuts in China with a proposal to expand the competition among medium models, combining ultra-fast charging, high range, and a price range that catches the eye in comparison with entry-level utilities.
BYD has expanded the Song family in China with the launch of the Song Ultra EV, an electric sports utility vehicle that debuted on March 26, 2026 with prices ranging from 151,900 to 179,900 yuan.
In direct conversion and without taxes, the range is close to or below the price charged in Brazil for a Volkswagen Tera 170 TSI, advertised in the Brazilian market for R$ 121,390.
According to the manufacturer, the model arrives with charging from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes and a range of up to 710 km in the Chinese CLTC cycle.

With a 1.0 engine producing 75 hp and costing less than R$ 70,000, Fiat’s car returns to the podium as the cheapest in the country; a temporary promotion for the 2026 Like version reduces the price of the Fiat Mobi.

With a mild hybrid system of 48 V, 176 hp and a price of R$ 175,990 in the Sahara version, the new Jeep Renegade changes mostly on the inside, improves slightly in fuel consumption, and remains almost the same car.
-
With a 293.5 cm³ engine and a range of up to 400 km with a 14.1-liter tank, the Honda CB 300F Twister 2026 has up to 24.7 hp, an initial price of R$ 25,150, and already exceeds R$ 29,000 in the Fipe Table.

With a 1.3 engine, nearly 700 km of range, and Turbo 200, the Fiat model surpasses Polo, Tera HB20, and Onix, becoming the best-selling car in March; see the numbers for the Fiat Strada and others.
The launch expands the brand’s presence in the electrified SUV segment.
In the case of the Song Ultra EV, BYD positions the model as a medium-sized utility vehicle with rear-wheel drive, a spacious cabin, and a focus on technology.
In the first days on the market, the car surpassed 21,586 pre-sale orders, a number above the initial reference of over 20,000 units that appeared in the first publications about the vehicle.
Price of the BYD Song Ultra EV and comparison with the Tera
The Song Ultra EV starts at 151,900 yuan for the entry-level version and goes up to 179,900 yuan for the most expensive configuration.
Converted directly, the values fall within a similar range to compact or entry-level SUVs sold in Brazil, although this equivalence does not consider taxes, freight, or nationalization costs.
It was this price relationship that brought the model closer to the Tera TSI in initial comparisons.
Despite this, the two vehicles have different proposals.
The Song Ultra EV is a larger electric SUV with technical characteristics distinct from those of a compact utility vehicle with a combustion engine.
The comparison, therefore, is limited to the price range in direct conversion.
Dimensions of the SUV and visual of the Dynasty line
The new utility measures 4.85 meters in length, 1.91 meters in width, 1.67 meters in height, and has a 2.84-meter wheelbase.

Based on its dimensions, the Song Ultra EV positions itself among medium SUVs, with interior space above the standard of compact utilities.
Visually, the model follows the recent design language of the Dynasty line.
The front adopts a set with horizontal lighting signature and integration between optical elements.
On the sides, the SUV features a floating roof effect, a waistline divided into sections, and 19-inch wheels.
At the rear, the lighting spans the entire width of the body.
Cabin with large screens and bed mode
Inside, the dashboard features a 15.6-inch rotating center screen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, and a 26-inch head-up display, all integrated into BYD’s UI 7.0 system.
The manufacturer also reports voice commands in four zones, soft-touch surfaces, and 3D ambient lighting.
The front seats offer ventilation, heating, and ten-point massage.
The driver’s seat has eight-way electric adjustment, while the passenger seat includes leg support.

Additionally, the cabin features the so-called “bed mode”, in which the seats can form a flat surface of about 1.8 meters.
The cargo capacity is another point highlighted by the brand.
The rear trunk holds 730 liters with the seats in their normal position and can reach 1,659 liters when folded down.
At the front, the frunk adds another 150 liters.
During the vehicle presentation, BYD also reported the presence of an integrated cooler, operating between -6 ºC and 50 ºC.
Rear motor, batteries, and range of up to 710 km
In terms of mechanics, the Song Ultra EV uses a rear electric motor in two calibrations.
The lower range versions deliver 240 kW, while the more expensive variants reach 270 kW, equivalent to about 326 hp and 367 hp.
The disclosed torque is 305 Nm, approximately 31.1 kgfm, and the reported top speed is 210 km/h.
The batteries belong to the Short Blade Battery 2.0 line, the second generation of BYD’s Blade battery, with capacities of 68.4 kWh and 82.7 kWh.
In the CLTC standard, the homologated range is 620 km for the smaller versions and 710 km for the more expensive ones.
As this cycle tends to record higher numbers than standards used in other markets, the range cannot be directly compared with WLTP or Inmetro measurements.
Fast charging and compatible infrastructure
The main data disclosed by BYD for the model is in the electric refueling time.
At compatible chargers, the manufacturer claims that the SUV goes from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes and from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes.
At temperatures of -30 ºC, this interval increases by about 3 minutes.
These numbers are linked to the use of the new generation of Blade battery and the expansion of the company’s ultra-fast charging infrastructure, presented by BYD in early March.
In practice, the charging performance depends on the availability of chargers compatible with this power.
Chassis, suspension, and driving assistance
The Song Ultra EV comes factory-equipped with the DiSus-C continuous damping system and a suspension setup with McPherson architecture at the front and five-link multilink at the rear.
The model also features seven airbags, including a front center airbag, and a stability system for tire blowout situations.
In versions equipped with the optional DiPilot 300 package, the SUV receives LiDAR and a set of 27 sensors, with assisted driving features for city, highway, and automatic parking maneuvers.
The availability of these systems, however, varies according to the chosen configuration.
With this launch, BYD expands the offering of electric utilities in China in a price range that approaches that practiced by entry-level models in other markets.
The Song Ultra EV combines medium SUV dimensions, batteries of up to 82.7 kWh, and charging in minutes, according to the manufacturer.
Outside of China, the eventual competitiveness of the model will depend on factors such as taxation, commercial strategy, and available charging infrastructure.
