Lojas Renner, One of the Largest Department Stores in Brazil, Announced It Closed 20 Units in the First Quarter of 2023 Compared to the Closures of the Last Three Months of 2022.
The decision was made after an evaluation of the profitability of its operations, seeking to increase efficiency and reduce costs. A total of 13 units of Camicado, four of Renner itself, and three of Youcom were closed.
The Home and Décor segment, particularly Home & Decor, which has a higher sales share through digital channels, faced significant challenges in a difficult scenario characterized by inflation and high family indebtedness. The company, however, stated that it still intends to open new stores in the long term, with plans for 15 to 20 new Renner stores, 10 to 15 Youcom stores, and 5 units of Ashua.
Renner’s Results in the First Quarter of 2023
Lojas Renner reported a profit of R$ 46.8 million in the first quarter of this year, a decrease of 75.6% compared to the same period in 2022. The company’s net revenue was R$ 2.6 billion, a reduction of 18.4% compared to the first quarter of 2022.
