Magazine Luiza, a giant in the Brazilian market, has a new selection process offering job vacancies for professionals to work in the company's consortium

The Magalu Consortium, a branch of consortiums belonging to Magazine Luiza, is announcing the opening of 580 job vacancies, with an emphasis on searching for candidates over 50 years old. Although opportunities are not restricted to this age group, the company is targeting its efforts to increase the presence of professionals in this age group, currently representing 10% of the active base. The goal is to increase this percentage to 30%, according to the JC Concursos website.

The company emphasizes that the Magalu Consortium's selection process adopts the same policies and values ​​as the Magalu group as a whole, emphasizing inclusivity and the creation of a welcoming and valued work environment for all employees. Andresa Ferreira, corporate people manager at Consórcio Magalu, highlights: “We noticed that, among the profiles that make up the company's team of business managers, the group over 50 years old is still the least represented. 

Hence, of the 580 job vacancies available, our expectation is to hire at least 360 professionals in this age group. We believe that a wealth of life experience is a very positive element to perform these roles.”

Ageism in the offer of job vacancies

Ageism represents one of the main hiring barriers in Brazil, revealing recent research on the scarcity of professionals with this profile in the job market. The Magalu Consórcio executive highlights that this challenge requires an immediate cultural change in the country and in companies. She notes that there is often self-prejudice on the part of older people, who consider themselves inadequate and incapable of learning something new. 

In this context, the executive emphasizes the need for companies to provide opportunities that allow these people to feel useful, highlighting that life expectancy is on the rise and staying active for longer is, literally, the future.

The business managers chosen in the Magalu Consórcio selection process will be responsible for promoting and selling Magalu Consórcio services in the company's stores. The ideal candidates are entrepreneurs who already have established companies or are interested in becoming individual microentrepreneurs (MEI). The company seeks individuals with experience in sales, knowledge of consortiums or financial services, proficiency in digital tools and an entrepreneurial spirit.
