The governor of the state of Alagoas, Renan Filho, and the Secretary of State for Economic Development and Tourism, Marcius Beltrão, met yesterday afternoon (Thursday, 12) with representatives of the company Mercosul Electric Motors, which intends to install a new factory in the state still this year, with planned investments of R$ 170 million. The company is expected to start installation in the state next month in October and, when operational, will generate 258 direct jobs. State of Alagoas Prepares to Receive the Factory
According to the governor of Alagoas, the arrival of Mercosul Motors is a clear demonstration that the State of Alagoas is ready to receive investments in all segments. Renan Filho emphasized that this electric motor segment is one that the state is interested in promoting because it is a clean industry that replaces the use of fossil fuels and has a good chance of becoming one of the main segments of motors for the automotive industry in the near future.
The governor also noted that the state of Alagoas has strategically prepared to attract these types of investments and is very happy to attract the factory of Mercosul Electric Motors – the second largest company in the electric motor segment in the country.

Job and Income Generation in the State of Alagoas
Marcius Beltrão, Secretary of Sedetur, emphasizes that the installation of an electric motor factory brings jobs and income to the population of Alagoas and aligns with the sustainability that many demand in a time of climate change.
“Since the first year of his term, Governor Renan Filho has been working seriously to attract investments for job and income generation for the Alagoan population, and Mercosul is a large company in the sector that brings to Alagoas a goal, which is the manufacturing of electric motors for vehicles, a new dynamic given all the climatic issues the world is facing,” highlights Marcius Beltrão.

Fibracem announces that by the end of 2022 it will invest an additional R$ 4 million in the expansion project of its factory located in the city of Linhares, in the state of Espírito Santo. According to the company’s planning and operations director, Eryck El-Jaick, this new phase of the factory’s expansion will occur to improve infrastructure and acquire cutting-edge equipment. New jobs will be opened at the unit in Linhares.
The executive further states that, with this additional investment, Fibracem will have invested a total of R$ 20 million in the factory. The expectation now is that Fibracem’s manufacturing division in Espírito Santo will account for 40% of the company’s total industrial production. The executive also states that, with this, the qualified labor force needed for the unit is expected to increase. “Still for this year, I believe that approximately 15%,” celebrates Eryck.
By the beginning of August 2021, the factory in Linhares, Espírito Santo, had more than 60 employees and even had four new job openings. Since last year, Fibracem’s unit in the north of Espírito Santo, in addition to the Distribution Center (CD), has also become a manufacturing unit. The expectation is that, besides this amount already invested, the company will inject approximately R$ 7 million in the coming years. “With that, we will total R$ 27 million in investment in the region, as agreed with the local government,” he concludes.
