MG, From The Chinese Group SAIC, Returns To Brazil With Three Electric Cars, Including The 510 Hp Sports Car Cyberster. The Brand Promises To Challenge BYD And Other Chinese Brands In The Competitive National Market
The Chinese manufacturer MG, part of the SAIC Motor group, is about to officially start its operations in Brazil. The brand, which already operates in several markets around the world, confirmed the arrival of its first models in the country and drew attention by debuting with a 510 hp electric sports car, the Cyberster.
After a year marked by the debuts of brands such as Zeekr, Omoda Jaecoo, GAC, and Geely, MG becomes another Chinese representative vying for space on Brazilian soil. Recent publications on social media show dozens of units of the brand already arrived at national ports—all of the Cyberster model, although the launch line is expected to include two other vehicles.
Another indication that the operation is about to begin is the launch of the official MG Brazil website, accompanied by social media profiles that have already started to unveil the first teasers and information about the cars. The initial lineup will feature three 100% electric models, including the 510 hp sports car, which promises superior performance to established sports cars.

With a 1.0 engine producing 75 hp and costing less than R$ 70,000, Fiat’s car returns to the podium as the cheapest in the country; a temporary promotion for the 2026 Like version reduces the price of the Fiat Mobi.

With a mild hybrid system of 48 V, 176 hp and a price of R$ 175,990 in the Sahara version, the new Jeep Renegade changes mostly on the inside, improves slightly in fuel consumption, and remains almost the same car.

With a 293.5 cm³ engine and a range of up to 400 km with a 14.1-liter tank, the Honda CB 300F Twister 2026 has up to 24.7 hp, an initial price of R$ 25,150, and already exceeds R$ 29,000 in the Fipe Table.
The official start of sales has yet to be announced, but the expectation is that it will occur before the São Paulo International Auto Show, scheduled for late November. The brand has already confirmed its presence at the event and is expected to open its first stores days prior, allowing the public to get a close look at its vehicles.

Three Electric Models Approved in Brazil
In July, MG had already signaled its entry into the country by homologating the MG4, MGS5, and Cyberster models in the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program (PBEV), from Inmetro. Now, with the website and social media live, the manufacturer accelerates the process of communication and preparation for the launch.
Among the three vehicles, the highlight is the Cyberster, a two-seater electric convertible that combines performance and futuristic design. The version that will be sold in Brazil is the most powerful in the lineup: it boasts 510 hp, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds—a quicker performance than that of a Porsche 911 Carrera S. According to Inmetro, the model has an autonomy of 342 km, thanks to the 77 kWh battery.
Globally unveiled in 2023, the Cyberster catches attention with its aggressive design and vertical scissor doors, inspired by European supercars. Its dimensions emphasize its sporty stature: 4.53 m in length, 1.91 m in width, 1.32 m in height, and 2.69 m in wheelbase.
Inside, the model features a set of four digital screens, with three dedicated to the instrument panel and one vertical in the center console, creating a fully immersive experience for the driver.

MG4 and MGS5 Complete The Initial Portfolio
In addition to the convertible, MG will offer two more affordable electric models: the medium hatch MG4 and the SUV MGS5. However, the promotional banner on the official website still displays the previous generation of the MG4, even though the new version is already available abroad.
The new generation of the MG4 has increased in size and received improvements in efficiency and performance. It now measures 4.39 m in length, 1.84 m in width, 1.55 m in height and 2.75 m in wheelbase, compared to 4.28 m, 1.83 m, 1.51 m and 2.70 m of the previous generation. The weight has also been reduced, from 1,620 kg to approximately 1,485 kg.
According to the Inmetro registration, the MG4 will be sold in the Comfort and Luxury versions, with an option for 4×4 traction. All versions will feature a 64 kWh battery and a range of up to 364 km with single traction, or 279 km in the all-wheel-drive versions. The motor power has not been officially confirmed, but abroad, the model delivers about 163 hp.
The MGS5, on the other hand, is a medium SUV with dimensions similar to the Toyota Corolla Cross. It measures 4.48 m in length, 1.85 m in width, 1.62 m in height, and 2.73 m in wheelbase, with a trunk of about 460 liters. The Comfort and Luxury versions will come with a 62 kWh battery and 351 km of autonomy.
In China, the MGS5 uses an electric motor with 170 hp and 25.5 kgfm of torque, and it is expected that these specifications will be maintained in the Brazilian model. The SUV will compete with the BYD Yuan Plus and other similarly-sized electric vehicles.

The Return of A Traditional Brand
Those who have been following the automotive sector for some time may remember that MG was present in Brazil between 2011 and 2013, represented by the importer Forest Trade. At the time, the market for electric and hybrid vehicles was still nascent, and the operation was eventually closed after a short period.
Originally founded in the United Kingdom, MG (Morris Garages) became part of the SAIC Motor group nearly 20 years ago, transforming into a global brand with a strong presence in Europe, Asia, and Oceania. The return to Brazil, now through direct operation, reinforces SAIC’s strategy to expand its presence in Latin America without relying on intermediaries.
Information about dealership network or price range has not yet been disclosed, but MG’s positioning is expected to follow the line of other Chinese brands, focusing on technology, electrification, and cost-benefit.
With the launch of three electric models and the promise of a sports car with impressive performance, MG returns to the country at a time of strong growth in the electric vehicle market. The brand bets on a combination of design, performance, and innovation to win over the Brazilian audience and establish itself among the new forces in the national automotive sector.
