The Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque Highlights That There Are 22 Energy Generation Projects Under Installation in Mato Grosso do Sul
Mato Grosso do Sul is expected to receive investments of R$ 4 billion in energy generation in the coming years. According to the Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, there are 22 energy generation projects under installation in Mato Grosso do Sul, which should add approximately 1,000 megawatts to the Brazilian system. This will involve investments of R$ 4 billion and about 15,000 new jobs. See also: 2,600 job openings are expected in Ceará after signing an agreement for the development of renewable energy projects

Energy Projects in Mato Grosso do Sul
Bento Albuquerque says that “right here in Mato Grosso do Sul we have 22 energy generation projects being installed. There are over a thousand megawatts that will be incorporated into the Brazilian system, with investments of R$ 4 billion and the creation of 15,000 jobs,” the minister emphasized.
Of the 22 projects, according to Bento, 21 are renewable energy projects, such as Small Hydroelectric Plants, biomass plants, and photovoltaic plants that produce energy from sunlight. “This means our matrix is diversified, and the sources complement each other,” highlighted the minister.

Rio Grande do Sul accelerates energy transition: State invests in renewable technologies and consolidates decarbonization strategies and pathways to attract billions in new industrial investments.
Governor Reinaldo Azambuja says that the country’s growth demands the use of energy from various sources, all of which are currently important for the national system. “We are happy because, despite all difficulties, and perhaps the greatest water scarcity in the last 100 years, we are advancing in new generations. In Mato Grosso do Sul, there will be R$ 4 billion in important investments for the balance of the national system,” the governor added.
State is a Highlight in Electricity Generation
For the State Secretary of Environment, Economic Development, Production, and Family Agriculture, Jaime Verruck, the large volume of resources that will be invested in Mato Grosso do Sul demonstrates the state’s potential in electricity generation. Jaime states that Mato Grosso do Sul is already a highlight in biomass energy generation, originating from the sugar-energy and eucalyptus sectors, and has also excelled in solar energy.
According to him, the state’s development logic is based on a renewable and sustainable energy matrix. “And that is what these projects announced by the minister have indicated. Our state is already self-sufficient in energy generation, an exporter, and aligned with our goal to increase renewable energy production along with our Carbon Neutral State project. That is why we encourage this type of venture,” concluded the secretary.

This Wednesday (28), Minister of Mines and Energy Bento Albuquerque was present alongside Governor Reinaldo Azambuja at the reactivation ceremony of the William Arjona thermal power plant in Campo Grande (MS). The unit will use natural gas for energy generation, contributing to the energy sector in Mato Grosso do Sul, as well as generating jobs and income for the people of Mato Grosso do Sul.
According to Azambuja, the resumption of investments like the reactivation of the thermal power plant, which had been dormant for four years, is important. He said that new partnerships have been made through tax incentives and participation from MSGás and Energisa. Besides energy, the thermal power plant will also bring to the state ICMS revenue, jobs, and new opportunities.
