Arauco, Chilean Pulp Company, Reinforces The Start Of Works On Its Billion-Dollar Mega Project In The Pulp Valley. The Megafactory Promises To Generate More Than 11 Thousand New Jobs.

Arauco has once again reinforced its plans to build a Megafactory for pulp in Inocência, 330 km from Campo Grande (MS). The project is expected to cost US$ 3 billion, around R$ 15 billion in direct conversion, generating 12 thousand new job openings during the peak of construction, in a city with currently seven thousand inhabitants. Work on the new industry is expected to begin in June of next year, with operations estimated to start in 2028, generating 250 direct jobs and 300 indirect ones.

Government Of The State Of MS Will Invest In Infrastructure

According to the government of Mato Grosso do Sul, the population of Inocência is expected to increase by 170% in the coming years. Arauco, the Chilean company, plans to invest billions of dollars in the construction of an industry covering 3,500 hectares on MS-377, 50 km from the center of Inocência, towards Água Clara, next to the Sucuriú River.

The MS government will invest in infrastructure to accommodate the new factory in the Pulp Valley, which will create numerous jobs, according to the measures provided in the municipality’s Strategic Territorial Organization Plan (PEOT).

According to Jaime Verruck, secretary of Semadesc, the entity has established that it will systematically monitor the state’s structural projects every week, such as the case with Arauco and also with Suzano.

Thus, it was established in the name of the secretariat the level of governance and to oversee all matters from environmental licensing, tax incentives, and all the socioeconomic impacts on the municipality. Last Monday (10), representatives from the state and municipal government and the Chilean company participated in a meeting at the City Council of Inocência to discuss the projects.

Arauco’s New Pulp Factory Will Receive Road Access

The new factory of Arauco, which will create numerous jobs, will help Mato Grosso do Sul consolidate the Pulp Valley, according to the secretary. Verruck emphasizes that the government is also working on the project by Suzano Pulp and Paper, which will be nearly completed in two years, and shortly after, a new project by Arauco will commence.

Thus, MS strengthens itself as a competitive and sustainable pulp industry, a global case. The construction of a new highway to the factory is planned, via MS-377, with the installation of a third lane at strategic points along the same highway.

Paving of 38 kilometers of MS-316, between Paraíso das Águas and Inocência, the installation of an airport in the city, and the development of housing, among other works.

Agesul (State Agency for Enterprise Management) launched a bidding process in March for the executive project of paving MS-316. The State Secretariat for Infrastructure and Logistics (Seilog) is preparing to launch the bidding for the executive project for the construction of the airport.

Get To Know The Pulp Valley

The Pulp Valley Innovation Ecosystem is a technological hub created for the development and promotion of innovation in the region of Três Lagoas (MS). It was launched last year, with extensive participation from companies and higher education institutions, which developed a Planning Document, guiding the next steps of this initiative.

The Innovation Ecosystem stems from the desire of institutions to unify the technical qualities of Três Lagoas in a direction that fosters innovation and technology.

A preliminary study was conducted to determine its capabilities in terms of technical and scientific skills to further develop these capabilities for the socioeconomic development of Três Lagoas. It is possible to find that there are still some companies that have not benefited from the technical capabilities of the science, innovation, and technology institutions.
