Arauco, a Chilean cellulose company, reinforces the start of work on its billion-dollar mega-project in the Cellulose Valley. The Megafactory promises to generate more than 11 thousand new jobs.

Arauco once again reinforced its plans to build a megafactory pulp mill in Inocência, 330 km from Campo Grande (MS). The undertaking should cost US$ 3 billion, around R$ 15 billion in direct conversion, generating 12 thousand new jobs during the peak of the works, in the city with current seven thousand inhabitants. The works for the new industry should begin in June of next year and it is estimated that it will start operating in 2028, generating 250 direct and 300 indirect jobs.

MS state government will invest in infrastructure

According to the government of Mato Grosso do Sul, the population of Inocência should increase by 170% in the coming years. Arauco, a Chilean company, plans to invest billions of dollars in the construction of a 3.500-hectare industry on the MS-377, 50 km from the center of Innocence, on the way to Água Clara, next to the Sucuriú River.

The government of MS will invest in infrastructure to receive the new factory in Cellulose Valley, which will create several jobs, according to the measures provided for in the municipality's Strategic Plan for Territorial Organization (PEOT).

According to Jaime Verruck, Semadesc's secretary, the entity established that every week, it will systematically monitor the state's structuring undertakings, as in the case of Arauco and in the case of Suzano as well.

In this way, the level of governance was established on behalf of the secretariat and to monitor the entire issue from environmental licensing, fiscal incentives and all socioeconomic impacts of the municipality. Last Monday (10), representatives of the state and municipal governments and the Chilean company participated in a meeting at the Inocência City Council to discuss the projects.

Arauco's new pulp mill will receive road access

A new factory da Arauco, which will create several jobs, will help Mato Grosso do Sul to consolidate Vale da Celulose, according to the secretary. Verruck points out that the government is also in charge of the Suzano Papel e Celulose project, which will be practically completed in two years and then a new Arauco project will begin.

So the MS gets stronger as a competitive and sustainable pulp industry, a worldwide case. The construction of a new highway to the factory is planned, via the MS-377, with the installation of a third lane at strategic points on the same highway.

The paving of 38 kilometers of the MS-316, between Paraíso das Águas and Inocência, the installation of an airport in the city and the development of housing, among other works.

Agesul (State Agency for Enterprise Management) launched a tender in March for the executive project for paving the MS-316. The State Secretariat for Infrastructure and Logistics (Seilog) is preparing to launch the tender for the executive project to build the airport.

The Vale da Celulose Innovation Ecosystem is a technological hub created for the development and promotion of innovation in the region of Três Lagoas (MS). It was launched last year, with extensive participation from Companies and Higher Education Institutions, which developed a Planning Document, guiding the next steps of this initiative.

The Innovation Ecosystem stems from the desire of institutions to unify the technical qualities of Três Lagoas, in a direction that fosters innovation and technology.

A preliminary study was carried out to determine its capabilities in terms of technical and scientific capabilities to further develop these capabilities for the benefit of the socio-economic development of Três Lagoas. It can be seen that there are still some companies that have not benefited from the technical capabilities of science, innovation and technology institutions.
