The Boring Company Project Will Connect Downtown Nashville to the Airport with Exclusive Tunnels for Tesla Vehicles
Tesla: Another U.S. City Will Have a Network of Underground Roads after an agreement was signed between Elon Musk’s Boring Company and the state government of Tennessee. The new structure will connect downtown Nashville to the city’s airport with 16 km of exclusive tunnels for Tesla electric vehicles.
This development marks the expansion of the system that currently operates only in Las Vegas. The project still needs to be approved, but local authorities have already given the green light for preliminary studies and the definition of the route. The expectation is that the first phase will be operational by the end of 2026.
Nashville is in the Spotlight for Underground Mobility

The confirmation that Tesla: Another U.S. City Will Have a Network of Underground Roads was made after the Boring Company partnered with the state government. The initial proposal envisions constructing a route that connects downtown the Tennessee capital to Nashville International Airport.

According to TechCrunch, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has already assessed that the project meets structural criteria and can operate safely. The plan follows the same model used in the Las Vegas Loop, with one-way traffic tunnels and boarding stations.
Infrastructure Already Exists in Las Vegas and Will Be Expanded

Currently, the only active network with Tesla vehicles is the Las Vegas Loop, inaugurated in 2021. The system has 5 stations operating under the city’s convention center, with a capacity for up to 70 vehicles. The goal is to expand to over 100 stations, including connections with hotels, casinos, and the local airport.
The success of the model in Nevada has led Tesla to target new urban centers. Now that another U.S. city will have a network of underground roads, the expectation is that this format will spread to other regions. The Dubai Loop project in the United Arab Emirates is another example in progress — featuring 17 km and a capacity to transport 20,000 people per hour.
Still Without a Set Date, But with Government Support
Despite the absence of an official timeline, the Tennessee state government office stated that studies are progressing and that the first phase could be ready by the end of 2026. The network should prioritize high-traffic urban areas and operate exclusively with Tesla vehicles, such as the Model Y and Model X.
Tesla: Another U.S. City Will Have a Network of Underground Roads in a move that reinforces Elon Musk’s bet on alternative mobility. The focus is to alleviate traffic in large cities and pave the way for the use of electric cars in optimized structures independent of conventional traffic.
