Hired by AndritzPulp&Paper, a world leader in providing systems, equipment, and services for the pulp and paper industry, METASA will be responsible for manufacturing the metal structures for the Recovery Boiler Building, with some components weighing up to 180 tons, which will be lifted to the top of the building at a height of 102 meters.

“METASA’s experience in this type of project and its manufacturing facility are crucial to ensure the assembly of these structures with quality and on time,” said the company.

The Star Project is an ambitious effort by Bracell to expand its production capacity from the current 250,000 tons/year to an additional 1.25 million tons/year, aiming to reach 1.5 million tons per year. The investment is estimated at around R$ 8 billion.

The expansion work has already begun and is expected to be completed by the second half of 2021. Upon completion, the Star Project is set to represent one of the largest private investments in the last 20 years in the state of São Paulo.

Star Project: Expansion and Jobs in São Paulo

When the expansion in São Paulo is completed in 2021, Bracell is expected to employ approximately 6,600 direct and contracted workers. The expansion plan will feature the latest technologies aimed at a next-generation pulp and paper mill.

Bracell is one of the world’s largest producers of dissolving pulp and specialty cellulose, with two main operations in Brazil located in Camaçari, Bahia, and Lençóis Paulista, São Paulo.
