With Robust Design, Advanced Hybrid Engine, and Surprising Fuel Efficiency, the New Mitsubishi Xforce HEV Arrives with Full Force to Take on Market Giants in a Direct Competition for Efficiency, Innovation, and Consumer Preference Seeking More for Less.

The automotive industry is undergoing a revolution driven by electrification, with automakers betting on more sustainable and efficient technologies.

Within this scenario, Mitsubishi revealed the Xforce HEV, a compact hybrid SUV that comes with the promise of winning over consumers and competing on equal footing with market leaders like the Toyota Yaris Cross.

Unveiled globally at the Bangkok International Motor Show in March 2025, the Xforce HEV impresses with its fuel economy of 24.4 km/l, a sophisticated design, and innovative technologies.

Produced at the Laem Chabang plant in Thailand, the model reflects Mitsubishi’s strategy to expand its lineup of electrified vehicles while offering a more efficient and accessible alternative for those seeking a hybrid SUV.

Equipped with an advanced hybrid system, the Xforce HEV stands out for its energy efficiency and its ability to meet the needs of urban consumers and adventurers in more challenging terrains.

A Serious Contender in the Hybrid SUV Market

With the growing demand for more economical and less polluting vehicles, the Xforce HEV emerges as a direct rival to the Toyota Yaris Cross, which is considered one of the best compact hybrid SUVs.

According to data provided by Mitsubishi, the Xforce HEV achieves an average of 24.4 km/l, surpassing the Yaris Cross, which records about 20 km/l in urban conditions.

This exceptional fuel economy positions the Xforce HEV as a highly attractive option for those looking to save on fuel costs while contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions.

The Xforce HEV’s fuel economy is just one of its advantages. The model is powered by a hybrid system and:Motion, which combines a 1.6 Atkinson-cycle engine and an electric motor of 85 kW, delivering 114 hp and 255 Nm of torque, allowing for smooth and efficient driving.

The e-CVT transmission (continuously variable transmission) helps optimize fuel consumption, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted gear shifts, similar to the systems used in other renowned hybrid models, such as those from Toyota.

Innovative Technology and Driving Versatility

The Xforce HEV also stands out for its adaptive driving technology.

The model offers seven driving modes, including Normal, EV, Charge, Wet, Gravel, Tarmac, and Mud.

These modes allow the driver to adjust the car’s performance based on road conditions. The EV mode, for example, prioritizes electric propulsion on urban routes, maximizing efficiency.

The Charge mode recharges the battery during driving, while the Gravel, Mud, and Tarmac modes adjust traction to tackle uneven terrains, making the Xforce HEV an excellent choice for those looking to explore both the city and more remote areas.

The two-speed transaxle is another highlight of the Xforce HEV.

With it, the model reduces energy loss at high speeds and improves acceleration, especially on inclines, providing a more fluid and comfortable driving experience.

The aerodynamics have also been carefully designed to ensure optimal performance, with 18-inch wheels and a body that minimizes air turbulence.

Modern and Comfortable Design

In terms of design, the Xforce HEV adopts a robust and sophisticated aesthetic, with lines inspired by models like the Outlander and the Eclipse Cross.

The imposing front is marked by a robust grille and full LED headlights and taillights, which provide greater visibility and energy efficiency.

In addition, the model features exclusive 18-inch wheels, which help distinguish the Xforce HEV from the combustion version.

Measuring 4.39 meters in length, 1.81 meters in width, and 1.66 meters in height, the SUV is perfectly sized for urban driving, but with a ground clearance of 222 mm, it is capable of tackling more challenging terrains.

Inside, Mitsubishi spared no effort to ensure comfort and practicality. The cabin includes a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and an 8-inch digital instrument panel, ensuring easy access to essential information for the driver.

The premium sound system from Yamaha enhances audio quality, while the ergonomic seats provide a high level of comfort.

Safety Is a Priority in the Xforce HEV

Safety is another strong point of the Xforce HEV.

The model comes equipped with a complete driver assistance package, including automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control, making driving safer and more practical.

The Active Yaw Control system, which enhances stability in curves, is also part of the package, offering greater control in adverse conditions.

These technologies ensure that the Xforce HEV is prepared to meet the rigorous safety standards required by demanding markets such as Asia and Europe.

Intense Competition in the Hybrid Market

The market for compact hybrid SUVs is growing, with competitors like the Toyota Yaris Cross, Nissan Kicks e-Power, and Honda HR-V e:HEV vying for public preference.

The Toyota Yaris Cross is one of Xforce HEV’s main rivals, featuring the Hybrid Synergy Drive system, which delivers 130 hp and an average fuel economy of 20 km/l.

Although the Yaris Cross is recognized for its reliability, the Xforce HEV stands out in terms of fuel efficiency, which can be a decisive factor for consumers looking to save on long-term operational costs.

The Mitsubishi strategy to compete in this market includes competitive pricing and local production in Thailand, which reduces logistics costs and allows the model to be offered at affordable prices. The Xforce HEV has an initial price of around €24,500, about R$ 150,000, aligning with the price of the Yaris Cross, which ranges from R$ 130,000 to R$ 148,000. The five-year warranty for the vehicle and ten years for the battery reinforces confidence in the model’s durability, an essential factor for discerning consumers.

Mitsubishi’s Strategic Expansion in Southeast Asia

The Xforce HEV debuted in Thailand, a key market for electrification, where the government offers tax incentives for hybrid and electric vehicles.

According to industry experts, the country has a growing infrastructure that supports the adoption of more sustainable vehicles. Local production at the Laem Chabang plant facilitates model distribution and maintains competitive pricing.

Mitsubishi plans to expand sales of the Xforce HEV to the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia in 2025, countries where the brand already has a strong presence and where demand for hybrid vehicles is increasing.

This expansion is part of a global strategy to strengthen Mitsubishi’s position in an increasingly competitive market.

Conclusion: A Promising Future for the Xforce HEV

The Xforce HEV enters the market with great potential to win over consumers seeking fuel economy, advanced technology, and sustainability, while also offering the comfort and versatility of a compact SUV.

The competition with the Toyota Yaris Cross promises to be intense, especially due to its superior fuel efficiency and state-of-the-art hybrid technology.
