Higer Bus Will Sign An Agreement With The Government Of Ceará For The Installation Of A New Electric Bus Factory In Pecém. The Million-Dollar Investment Should Import The Vehicles Via PKD.

The Chinese company, Higer Bus, signed an agreement with the Government of Ceará for the installation of its new electric bus factory in Pecém, 315 km from Fortaleza. The company’s initiative, discussed with the state government, will require investments of US$ 20 million. With a large expansion plan, the Government of Ceará enters the selection radius of the company not only for its geographical advantage with markets in Europe and the Americas but also due to green hydrogen.

New Higer Bus Factory Should Import Buses Via PKD

The new Higer Bus factory should import electric buses via PKD. In this model, the vehicle will arrive with all parts disassembled, meaning it will be ready upon arrival, and components such as seats, windows, and electric motors will be installed on-site.

In an interview, Marcelo Barcella, Director for Latin America at Higer Bus, emphasized that the suppliers for the automaker can perfectly meet Higer’s demands in Ceará. The selection includes companies such as Siemens and Dana for the electric bus motors, Bosch for steering gear, and ZF for the suspension.

The batteries will be supplied by CATL, which recently formed a partnership with Brazilian battery manufacturer Moura. However, in Brazil, the company will operate through TEVx Motors Higer.

Before arriving in Ceará, the company already has a contract with Enel in São Paulo, where the energy company will compete in a bidding process for the commercialization of the electric buses. If successful, Higer Bus will set up the charging infrastructure and lease the entire package of operators.

Official Contract With The Government Of Ceará Should Be Signed Soon

The signing of the letter of intent with the Government of Ceará for the installation of the new electric bus factory in the state is expected soon. According to information, Higer Bus is already mobilizing alongside the state government for the signing of the document, which is the first step toward building the new factory in the region.

For Barcella, the initiative will bring various benefits, from reducing pollution to creating new jobs. According to the executive, Higer will bring new technologies for companies and developers, where it will be necessary to train mechanical drivers and thus achieve advances for Brazil and the state.

For the Government of Ceará, the initiative will also bring development, as stated by the Secretary of Economic Development and Labor (Sedet), Maia Junior. The priority over the years in Pecém has been to attract steel industries, and it is bringing several new factories, as was the case with Higer Bus, which is willing to sign a letter of intent for the installation of the new electric bus factory.
