The Multinational BYD Is Launching a New Line of Photovoltaic Modules in the Country and Has Modernized Its Solar Power Factory to Provide Brazilian Consumers with the Best in the Global Renewable Energy Market

After completing 5 years of activities at its factory located in Campinas (SP), BYD Energy has taken a new step in the Brazilian market, announcing on Wednesday (6) that it plans to open its new production line of photovoltaic modules this month. The event is scheduled for the 19th of this month, and in addition to the installation of state-of-the-art equipment that allows for increased automation and technology in manufacturing processes, various technologies have also been added to the products such as Multi-Busbar, 1/3 cut cell, half-cell, micro-gap, and negative-gap. Thus, the multinational begins selling a complete line of high-power solar energy modules, both monofacial and bifacial, which can vary from 450W to up to 670W.

BYD’s Factory Undergoes Update to Use Only State-of-the-Art Technology in Its Manufacturing Processes

The company’s new facilities feature 98% renewal in their processes and equipment, following global trends by adopting the most updated technology available both abroad and domestically. Thus, BYD consolidates and maintains its leadership in the Brazilian market, not only in the volume of photovoltaic modules produced but also in modern technology, characterizing itself as one of the companies that invest the most in new equipment and processes in the solar energy sector.

The new line has also enabled the factory to become compatible with all types of solar energy cells currently available on the market, with significant gains in efficiency and productivity.

Thus, there is now the possibility of laminating and encapsulating conventional photovoltaic modules or Double-glass. Another important highlight is that the transformation and expansion of the factory’s production processes have ensured that BYD was able to triple its capacity to reach 0.5 GW, enough to supply a city with 750,000 people.

BYD Trains Professionals, Generates Qualified Labor, and Jobs in Brazil

The new solar energy modules that will be sold in the market by the multinational, from their design and development to their installation, have been developed by the local engineering team of the energy company.

According to the commercial director of BYD Energy in Brazil, Marcelo Taborda, this is the company’s major differentiator, as when it comes to investing or evolving in the market, the main focus is not just on production or sales, but also includes training specialized labor. Taborda states that the multinational takes great pride in saying that a large part of the equipment was produced by the team of research and development and product engineering in Brazil.

Currently, the company has all the necessary equipment to certify and measure the photovoltaic modules produced in the domestic market. The executive states that this way, the company can certify its solar energy modules and others produced abroad within BYD Energy itself. Thus, the company gains significantly in agility, timelines, costs, and also in quality.

New Photovoltaic Modules from BYD Will Be Sold Starting April 25

For the company, the new production line of solar energy modules represents a major achievement for the entire national market. The multinational had already proven its ability to develop high-power and quality modules, and now has demonstrated its capability to manufacture them on a large scale, with efficiency and productivity levels on par with global standards. The production and start of sales of the new products manufactured by the company in Campinas are scheduled for the 25th of this month.

According to Adalberto Maluf, director of Marketing and Sustainability at BYD, from the beginning, the company understood that there was significant market potential for the expansion of a technology that was still in its infancy in Brazil but was already well-established abroad.

As a result, the sector received several investments, and today, in addition to being the largest operational factory, the company has produced more than one and a half million modules in recent years.
