Announcement of New Investments in the Unit in the State of São Paulo
A ceremony held on Thursday afternoon (21) at the factory headquarters, located at km 86.5 of the Castelo Branco highway, marked the company’s 20 years in Brazil. The JCB factory located in Sorocaba currently has a production capacity of 10,000 machines per year.
According to JCB’s CEO in Brazil, José Luís Gonçalves, the announced funds will be invested in the Sorocaba factory over the next three years: 2022, 2023, and 2024. “As we have a number of projects in development in the country and in Latin America, we will allocate R$ 120 million to various fronts, such as production, launching new products, equipment, and increasing our production capacity,” he states.

Additionally, the company’s CEO announced that starting in December or early January, the factory will implement a second shift on the excavator production line, which should generate around 50 new jobs in the city.
Job Creation at the Factory in Sorocaba
According to the executive, the expectation is that the JCB factory in Sorocaba will generate around 300 more job vacancies over the coming year. “In 2022, we expect to create another 300 vacancies, given that we export machines to more than 20 countries, including all of Latin America and the United States, with plans to soon reach other countries,” points out José Luís Gonçalves.
Moreover, according to JCB’s CEO in Brazil, the factory in the city currently employs around 600 people, both direct and indirect employees, and the local unit produces an average of around 500 machines per month. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and supply shortages caused by logistical and transport delays, the monthly production is affected by between 10% to 30%.
At the factory in the city, in the state of São Paulo, JCB produces backhoes, mini-backhoes, hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, mini-excavators, skid loaders, telehandlers, and compactors for all of Latin America. With an estimated growth of 50% for this year compared to 2020, the company reached the milestone of 25,000 machines sold in the country and continues to invest in technology and expanding production. The CEO of JCB in Brazil also mentioned that the expectation is to grow by 20% in 2022 and continue investing in the Sorocaba factory. “We will keep contributing to the major productive sectors of the country, from the development of sanitation infrastructure, logistics, among others, to agribusiness, which increasingly seeks equipment,” he emphasizes.

The French multinational Alstom announced an expansion of operations at its factory in Taubaté, in the state of São Paulo. The company will make an investment of R$ 80 million to fulfill the manufacturing of trains for international projects. Approximately 750 new jobs will be created with Alstom’s expansion plan.
To meet the new projects, Alstom is investing around 14 million euros (R$ 80 million) in modernization and adaptations at its factory, with the goal of starting production of the new projects in 2022. New structures are being erected at the company’s production complex in Taubaté, in the state of São Paulo, expected to begin operations at the beginning of next year.
