Announcement of new investments in the unit, in the interior of the state of São Paulo

A ceremony held this Thursday afternoon (21), at the factory's headquarters, located at km 86,5 of the Castelo Branco highway, marked the company's 20th anniversary in Brazil. The JCB factory installed in Sorocaba currently has a production capacity of 10 machines per year.

According to the CEO of JCB in Brazil, José Luís Gonçalves, the announced resources will be invested in the Sorocaba plant over the next three years: 2022, 2023 and 2024. “As we have a series of projects under development in the country and in Latin America, we are going to invest R$ 120 million in different fronts, such as production, launch of new products, equipment and to increase our production capacity”, he says.

In addition, the company's CEO announced that, starting in December or early January, the factory will deploy the second shift on the excavator production line, which should generate around 50 new jobs in the city.

Generation of jobs at the factory in Sorocaba

According to the executive, the expectation is that the JCB factory, in Sorocaba, will generate about 300 more jobs over the next year. “In 2022, the expectation is to generate another 300 jobs, as we export machines to more than 20 countries, including all of Latin America and the United States, with a forecast that we will soon reach other countries”, points out José Luís Gonçalves.

Still, according to the CEO of JCB in Brazil, the factory in the city currently employs around 600 people, including direct and indirect employees, and the local unit produces, on average, around 500 machines per month. But due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the lack of supplies, due to delays in the issue of logistics and transport, monthly production is affected by between 10% and 30%.

At its factory in the city, in the state of São Paulo, JCB produces backhoe loaders, mini backhoe loaders, hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, mini excavators, skid steer loaders, telescopic handlers and road rollers for all of Latin America. With an estimated growth of 50% for this year compared to 2020, the company reached the mark of 25 machines sold in the country and continues to invest in technology and in expanding production. The CEO of JCB in Brazil also said that the expectation is to grow 20% in 2022 and continue with investments in the Sorocaba factory. “We will continue adding to the country's major productive sectors, from the development of sanitation infrastructure, logistics, among others, to agribusiness, which is increasingly looking for equipment”, he emphasizes.
