Vestas Announces Investment of R$ 1 Billion for Wind Energy Project in Paraíba Expected to Generate 600 New Jobs.

The Governor of Paraíba, João Azevêdo, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Danish wind energy company Vestas at the Palácio da Redenção, located in João Pessoa, at the end of last month. The company is developing a project for the installation of wind farms, aiming to bring developments to the municipalities of Araruna, Riachão, Cacimba de Dentro, Cuité, and Damião. The project, called Fragata, promises to generate about 600 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase.

The turbine manufacturer Vestas also has plans in Bahia, aiming to build the second maintenance center. The location concentrates a large part of the facilities, generating even more jobs for the region. It is a significant impact, not only on the production activity of wind turbines.

The company has a facility in Aquiraz; however, it also produces blades and towers through partners with projects, with designers that are also a job generation vector.

The first turbine from the company was installed in Fernando de Noronha in the 2000s. And more recently, in the last twelve years, the company has had a very important presence with investments and technology localization for wind turbines.
