With The Success Of Partnerships Between Large And Small Companies, Equinor Brazil Chose 8 Startups And Medium And Small Companies To Develop Projects
A new operating model has proven very effective in the market – large companies encouraging small and medium ones, as well as startups. In a process of mutual assistance, smaller companies help to create solutions for the daily problems of the larger ones. One such example is the oil company Equinor Brazil, which appointed eight companies and startups to address projects with operational challenges presented by the company.
Through Bridge, a partnership with the corporate innovation consultancy Innoscience, Equinor will have solutions applied to its assets from the following companies: Confirm8, PixForce, Vidya, LedCorp, NetLex, One Green, Immer Messen and Fiedler/Gestra.

The startups and companies that were chosen are from five states in Brazil – Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo and Minas Gerais. Equinor received 92 applications from 78 different companies and startups for the program.
“During the selection process for Bridge, we had the opportunity to better understand the innovation market in Brazil, which assured us that we are on the right track by investing in open innovation. In partnership with the selected companies, we want to develop projects and solutions that make the Brazilian market more robust as they reinforce the attributes of solidity, digitalization, innovation and sustainability of our operations, in line with our strategy of leadership in the energy transition,” said Equinor Brazil’s Director of Contracts and Supplies, Rafael Tristão.
Selection of Companies and Startups, Conducted by Equinor
In the first stage, right after the applications, Equinor selected those companies whose challenge and objective-solving bias aligned with the needs of the oil company. In the second phase, the chosen ones presented their solutions to Equinor’s business sectors and underwent an immersion period in each of the challenges with the responsible area.
Marco Perocco, partner at the consultancy Innoscience, stated that during the immersion, the benefits for both parties resulting from open innovation were clear. “On one side, we had a high-performance team, always committed to developing cutting-edge technologies for its industry, and on the other side, companies with innovative solutions that had never had the opportunity to work with Equinor before. A top-level collaboration for the co-creation of projects that strengthen the entire ecosystem,” he pointed out.
In 2022, after the testing period of the pilot plan and with positive evaluations, the companies may be formalized as suppliers for Equinor. The selected ones will be able to test the solutions in the Peregrino field, at the support base located in the Port of Açu, and also at Equinor’s office.
