Together, Route 3 and two other Petrobras gas pipelines (Routes 1 and 2) are expected to transport around 44 million cubic meters of gas per day.

The oil and gas sector in Brazil, that has been bringing profits, has great expectations for 2022: the start of activities on the Petrobras Rota 3 gas pipeline, which will take pre-salt gas to the coast. The Gas Pipeline Route 3 has a total length of approximately 355 kilometers (km), with 307 km corresponding to the maritime section and 48 km corresponding to the land portion.

Petrobras, which was being prepared to start the operation of Route 3, said, on March 23, to the news vehicle PetroNotícias that the final stage of the commissioning process and the experimentation of the onshore and shallow sections are expected to take place at the beginning of the second half of the year, taking into account that, in early 2022, Petrobras had already started operating the deep section of the gas pipeline . Meanwhile, the state company, which recently closed millionaire contract with Ocyan, has been working on the last phase of the shallow sea section, which aims to interconnect spool 2 (reel) to connect the shallow and deep sections in a water depth of 58 meters. The works on the land section between the beach and Polo Gaslub (which is the former Comperj), in turn, have already been completed.

The operational tests of Polo Gaslub were started at the end of January by Petrobras. The hub began to receive unprocessed natural gas (rich gas) originating from the Cabiúnas Terminal, whose entry took place through the Guapimirim-Comperj I (Gaserj) gas pipeline and enabled the start of activities in the utility systems, mainly the Generation Unit and Steam Distribution. The systems in question will be responsible for ensuring the supply of facilities and equipment essential for the UPGN to start operating, which is expected to take place this year.

As for the Petrobras gas pipeline sectors, the deep part of Route 3 is 297 km long, between water depths of 58 meters and 2.190 meters. The shallow stretch, on the other hand, is inserted in a water depth that starts at a depth of 58 meters, with approximately 10 km in length. When the Route 3 activities are actually started, the gas flow rate will be close to 18 million cubic meters (m³) of gas per day.

Thus, this gas to be transported by the Route 3 gas pipeline will undergo treatment at the Gaslub Pole's Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN). The plant will be finished with a capacity to drain and process 21 million cubic meters (m³) per day of natural gas originating in the pole pre-salt of the Santos Basin. With the joint operation of Route 3, Route 1 (UPGN Caraguatatuba/SP) and Route 2 (Terminal Cabiúnas/RJ), Petrobras' gas pipelines will achieve a total capacity to transport 44 million cubic meters of gas per day.

In addition to the units undergoing testing and experimentation, the water treatment plant, the substations responsible for distributing electricity to the undertaking, the Integrated Control Center (CIC), the auxiliary utility systems and the 'flare ' (equipment that burns waste gases) are all already in operation.

Petrobras signs a partnership and allocates R$ 300 million to a social program for access to cooking gas and food supply, benefiting more than 4 million people

Petrobras informed yesterday (21/03), in a material fact, that it has entered into a partnership with the social organization Gastromotiva to expand the supply of food to people in a situation of food insecurity in large urban centers, in five states of the country. The initiative, which provides for the distribution of up to 1,5 million meals, is one of the fronts of action in Petrobras' social program to access to cooking gas (liquefied petroleum gas – LPG), for which the company will allocate a total of up to R$ 300 million until the end of this year. On Friday (18/3), an event was held at the headquarters of Gastromotiva, in Rio de Janeiro, to mark the beginning of the partnership. To know more, click here and read the full article.
