About the New Peugeot 2008
Manufactured in Argentina, the new 2008 is based on the CMP platform, also used by the hatch 208 and other group models.
The SUV retained McPherson suspensions in the front and a torsion beam in the rear but received significant updates, incorporating new equipment, modern powertrains, and electrification in its electric version, imported from Europe.
The model now features a 1.0 Turbo-flex three-cylinder engine, with 130 hp of power and 20.4 kgfm of torque.
It replaced the old flex four-cylinder engines EC5 1.6 aspirated with 120 hp and THP 1.6 turbo with 173 hp, both equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The new setup is accompanied by a CVT transmission with seven simulated gears, the same configuration found in Fiat Pulse, Fastback, and Strada.
The SUV has also grown in dimensions: 15 centimeters longer than its predecessor, plus 64 liters more capacity in the trunk, which now holds 419 liters.
Inside, it features a digital dashboard, a 10-inch infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charger, dual-zone digital air conditioning, electronic parking brake, and driving assistance systems.
The most complete version also includes 360° cameras, front collision alert, automatic braking, adaptive high beams, speed limit sign reader, unintentional lane change warning, a digital dashboard with a 3D effect, and a panoramic sunroof.
Main Problems of the New Peugeot 2008
Even being a recent model in the Brazilian market, the new Peugeot 2008 has already seen complaints from owners.
Complaints are recorded in forums and on the Reclame Aqui website, highlighting issues ranging from electronic components to mechanical problems.
Among the reports, the highlights are the 1.0 turbo engine, infotainment system, air conditioning, and noises in the sunroof.
Problems with the 1.0 Turbo Engine
This is the most recurring issue among owners of the new 2008. The engine exhibits disruptions in operation even with low mileage, compromising the vehicle’s usability.
One owner from Manaus reports that, with only 1,086 km driven, their car displayed alerts on the dashboard related to the engine, transmission, and parking brake.
The technical analysis indicated an electronic defect in the intake pressure sensor, which prevents the correct reading of the air intake in the throttle body.
Despite replacing the component, the failures persisted, characterizing a manufacturing defect.
Another case recorded in Palmital (SP) shows that the vehicle experienced problems after only 800 km of driving.
The owner reports being forced to rely on alternative transportation, such as Uber, and is considering legal action due to the lack of immediate resolution from the dealership.
“The truth is that 30 days after paying almost R$ 130,000 for a new car, my family and I have to use Uber to get to school, work, and other activities. No one is solving anything. Unfortunately, I will have to take legal action,” they reported on Reclame Aqui.
Problems with the Infotainment System
Users report freezes, connection failures with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as slow responses to commands.
The problem affects the user experience of the system, which is one of the main tools for entertainment and connectivity in the vehicle.
Failures in Air Conditioning and Noises in the Sunroof
Some owners report malfunctions in the climate control system, struggling to maintain appropriate cabin temperature.
Noises in the panoramic sunroof have also been noted, causing discomfort during drives and drawing attention as it relates to a defect in a premium comfort item.

The case from Manaus exemplifies the seriousness of some failures: alerts for the engine, transmission, and parking brake systems appeared within the first thousand kilometers.
The diagnosis carried out via the DIAGBOX system indicated a defect in the intake pressure sensor, an essential part for engine start. Even after replacement, the problem was not fully resolved.
In Palmital, the account shows a direct impact on users’ routines: the engine failure rendered the vehicle unusable, forcing the family to resort to alternative transportation.
These cases highlight that, although new, some models are leaving the factory with issues that affect daily use and require immediate technical attention.
Problems in the infotainment system, air conditioning, and sunroof, while less severe than engine failures, also impair the user experience and generate dissatisfaction among owners.
