The Nissan Leaf 2022 Is a Restyled Model of the Second Generation, Which Debuted in 2018. As Such, It Features Updates in Its Exterior Design and Changes in Its Interior, Check Out All the Details.

Nissan decided to maintain the two battery options that already existed, without any improvement in autonomy, which is the main ‘flaw’ for experts in the automotive sector in relation to its potential rivals. For 2022, the manufacturer has reduced the price of the Leaf by up to US$ 6,500, lowering the suggested price for a base model to US$ 27,400 abroad. For now, pricing information is only available for the S model of the new Nissan Leaf 2022, which is expected to arrive in Brazil starting at R$ 209,981.00.

On the outside of the Nissan model, there were some minor changes that only the most enthusiastic Leaf fans will notice, with the main change being the introduction of new black alloy wheel options of 16 and 17 inches. Additionally, the new Nissan logo has been added to the wheels, front grille, and rear.

Two new paint options join the existing five color options and five two-tone choices, called Pearl Blue and Magnetic Blue. There are two battery options available, with the largest offering up to 385 km of range.

The latest ProPilot technology means that the Nissan Leaf 2022 can stop, start, and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead without the driver using the pedals, while the e-Pedal system, which gives the driver the ability to accelerate and decelerate using only the accelerator, remains.

Despite the Added Technology, New Buyers of the Nissan Leaf 2022 Complain About Range

The new Nissan Leaf 2022 features the NissanConnect multimedia system, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and with Wi-Fi connectivity for up to seven devices in the vehicle. Additionally, it allows for vehicle control from a mobile device via the specific Nissan app, with features like air conditioning or navigation, as well as reviewing information regarding consumption.

It can also be linked to virtual assistant devices, such as Alexa. However, among the most important improvements is the revision of the ProPilot system mentioned above, which refers to semi-autonomous driving. However, the motor and battery have not been touched; there are no changes of any kind in this section.

This means that it will be available in a 40 kWh version and a 62 kWh version. The best of its configurations reaches up to 385 km, which is undoubtedly a low range considering the latest launches in the market.

Nissan Leaf Will Come with Its Two Versions When It Finally Arrives in Brazil

In the case of the more economical version, which offers 110 kW (150 hp) and a 40 kWh battery, the range is only 270 km. This data means that the Nissan Leaf 2020, like the previous version of the model, is not a car designed to leave the city. The Nissan Leaf 2022 will be available starting in April 2022, with an initial price of approximately 19,000 euros.

Regarding the Brazilian automotive market, last week Nissan Brazil held a different test drive for a group of journalists from Minas Gerais. The programming included a round trip to the historic town of Ouro Preto, along a winding route with steep sections. The group departed from the Carbel Japão dealership headquarters on Avenida Barão Homem de Melo, 3400, on the afternoon of last Wednesday (17) and spent the night in the first capital of Minas Gerais.

The Leaf was the best-selling electric motor model in the segment last year, with about 500 units, a small volume in the overall market context, but still a good number considering it is a model with a disruptive proposal.

In 2019, Nissan began importing the model to Brazil, available in only seven cities. Now, in 2022, the Leaf will be available in 34 cities, covering 15 states and the Federal District.
