The official presentation is scheduled to take place by March 2026, marking the end of the fiscal year for the Japanese manufacturer.

This information was announced during the ceremony for the start of production of the new generation of the Nissan Kicks, also manufactured in Resende.
The event was attended by the main executives of the brand in Brazil and Latin America, as well as President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
On the occasion, Gonzalo Ibarzábal, president of Nissan Brazil, emphasized that the new model will be essential for transforming the factory into an export center.

Market Strategy And Positioning
The new subcompact SUV will be a key piece for the Japanese brand’s expansion in the entry-level segment of SUVs, one of the most competitive ranges in the national automotive market.
Positioning it below the Kicks aims to attract consumers looking for an accessible, modern model with Nissan’s global DNA.
Although it still does not have an official name, the project is already in an advanced stage of development.
Camo prototypes have been spotted testing on Brazilian streets, indicating that the launch could occur even before the deadline.
There are even speculations that the model could be revealed during the São Paulo Auto Show, scheduled for November 2025, marking Nissan’s return to the event.
Known Platform And Cost Control
Contrary to what many expected, Nissan chose to use the V platform—the same base used in the first-generation Kicks—rather than Renault’s modern CMF-B architecture.
The decision surprised part of the market, but it has strategic explanations. The adoption of the older platform aims to reduce production costs, which could translate into a more competitive price at dealerships.
Additionally, the Resende factory has undergone updates to accommodate the new assembly line, reinforcing the manufacturer’s commitment to expanding its local presence and increasing its global competitiveness.
It’s Not The Magnite, But There Is Inspiration
Despite initial rumors, the model to be produced in Brazil will not be the Nissan Magnite, sold in markets such as India, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
However, company executives confirm that the new SUV will use the Magnite as a visual and structural reference, especially in terms of proportions and urban style.
This approach aligns with Nissan’s current strategy, which has focused on regional adaptations of global models to meet the specific needs of each market.
The new utility is expected to follow this logic, with adjustments for Brazilian and Latin American audiences.

Exports As Strategic Focus
One of the most relevant points of the announcement is the export-oriented nature of the new model. According to Gonzalo Ibarzábal, the car will be sent to over 20 countries, including important markets such as Mexico and Argentina.
This strengthens the idea that the Resende unit will establish itself as a hub for exports to Latin America.
“This car will be exported to more than 20 countries in Latin America, including Mexico and Argentina. This is the focus and this is the production plan we have going forward. The most important thing for us is to transform Resende into an export hub, which is essential for the sustainability of the business,” the executive emphasized during the press conference.
Tight Competition In The Segment
With the new SUV, Nissan aims to directly face the Fiat Pulse, the Renault Kardian, and the Volkswagen Tera, all representatives of the new generation of compact SUVs aimed at the young and urban audience.
Each model brings a unique proposal, and Nissan wants to stand out by offering a balanced package of technology, fuel economy, and competitive pricing.
Additionally, the brand may include technologies such as the Nissan Safety Shield system, a multimedia center with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, as well as efficient engines, which should please increasingly demanding consumers.

Auto Show May Mark Debut
Although the manufacturer has not yet officially confirmed, there is high expectation that the new subcompact SUV will be revealed during the São Paulo Auto Show, scheduled for November 2025.
If this materializes, it will be Nissan’s first significant participation in the event after years of absence, and will reinforce the brand’s strategic positioning in Brazil.
Presenting at one of the largest automotive events in Latin America will also allow to gauge public and specialized press reception to the new project, in addition to boosting its image against competitors.
