Arriving to revolutionize the Brazilian market in terms of cost-effectiveness, JAC’s new pickup, with a competitive price similar to that of the Fiat Toro, aims to attract buyers from popular Toyota Hilux and Chevrolet S10. This new truck, which will be launched soon in the Brazilian automotive market, intends to be one of the most affordable options among mid-sized pickups.
Rival of Toyota Hilux and Chevrolet S10 Can Support Up to 1.5 Tons
The new T9 pickup is a model that, despite being from a Chinese manufacturer not so popular in Brazil, like BYD, delivers considerable luxury and sophistication in a segment that has only recently gained significant attention from automakers.
The T9 Hunter emerged some time ago in Asia, and the model has its fans in various countries, and now it is being tested here in Brazil. The new pickup will have its cost-effectiveness as a surname, along with other features that Brazilians highly value, such as the diesel engine.

Speaking a bit about dimensions, the new pickup is exactly the same length and size as the Toyota Hilux, with a length of 5.33 m, a wheelbase of 3.10 m, a width of 1.96 m, and a height of 1.93 m.
Its weight is quite light, weighing 1976 kg, and it can still accommodate up to 1090 l of luggage in the truck bed and supports at least 900 kg in its Chinese configuration, which is solely gasoline. However, in the versions with turbo diesel engines, it supports up to 1.5 tons of capacity.
New Chinese Pickup JAC Hunter T9 Delivers Up to 167 Horsepower
The design is a strong point, and the new truck positively stands out in the automotive market. At the front, we have a large hexagonal grille with the name “JAC” prominently displayed, a gray insert on the bumper, and a full LED lighting system divided into three elements on each side.
On the sides, the new T9 Hunter features a roof rack, as well as 17 or 18-inch wheels with off-road tires. At the rear, it showcases the brand name embossed on the truck bed cover, a completely black bumper, and very attractive Full LED taillights.
Moving on to the engine, the new rival of the Toyota Hilux and Chevrolet S10 stands out by meeting Brazilian demands, which in this case is the diesel engine. The engine chosen by the Chinese manufacturer is a 2.0 turbo diesel four-cylinder block, generating up to 167 horsepower and 41 kgfm of torque, which can be paired with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.
The traction for all configurations is integral, not offering rear or front-wheel drive versions. The performance of the new T9 Hunter truck does not impress the automotive market, but it is not lacking in power to carry this new pickup.
Technology to Spare and Finish with Quality Materials
Inside is where the new truck, rival of the Toyota Hilux and Chevrolet S10, impresses and attracts attention the most. The finish features quality materials on the dashboard and doors, with some areas covered in soft-touch material.
Regarding equipment, highlights include a sunroof, traction mode selector, joystick-style gear lever, electronic parking brake, keyless entry, wireless phone charging, driving mode selector, digital climate control, electronically folding mirrors, multifunction steering wheel, as well as a 7-inch digital display.
The multimedia center is also a significant highlight in the new pickup, which features a 10-inch screen positioned vertically with high definition. It includes functions such as wireless mirroring for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, native GPS, a 360-degree camera system, and through the media, it is possible to control all car settings as well as security and configurations.
Speaking a bit about safety, the new T9 Hunter is comprehensive considering the price range it competes in. However, when compared to other more sophisticated models in the automotive market, such as the new Ford Ranger, it still lacks many features compared to the American competitor.
