This Monday (9), business owners from Xanxerê attended a presentation on how to register as a supplier during the construction of Nestlé’s new factory, located in Vargeão, Santa Catarina. Interested parties gathered at the Lorenzon Incorporações office to follow the live broadcast from Fiesc in Florianópolis. The new factory is under construction and will need over 1,800 new professionals in construction and assembly.

According to information provided during the event, the new factory will be built on an area of 50 hectares with earthworks covering 200,000 m² and built area of 40,000 m².
The planned investments in the new unit in Santa Catarina amount to 1.3 billion, thus requiring 1,800 professionals in construction and assembly of the new factory. When the Nestlé unit in Santa Catarina is fully operational, an additional 200 employees will be needed, and the company is expected to start hiring some of these employees in the coming months.

In addition to the installation phases of the unit, it is estimated that around a thousand outsourced jobs will be created starting this year.
The region will benefit economically from the increased demand for inputs from the agribusiness sector, both for animal protein and for grains used in the production of food for cats and dogs.
According to the company, the plant will be developed considering a zero-waste policy for landfills, the use of renewable energy sources, and water reuse projects. In the first phase, the factory will receive a line of wet food with advanced, patented, and unprecedented technology. The industrial park will have the structure designed to accommodate other phases of expansion and installation of additional production lines.
The Importance Of The Project For The Municipality Of Vargeão
For the municipality of Vargeão, which has an estimated population of 3,500 inhabitants, the unit represents a unique transformation in its history. In 2021, when the announcement of the factory was made, the mayor of the city, Volmir Felipe, stated that it was an important day for the municipality and thanked all the efforts of the team from the government of Santa Catarina and for all the partnerships that have been established.
The business owners in the region are also investing and will grow without losing their quality of life. The municipality is also part of the Gente Catarina program, developed by the state government to increase the Human Development Index. Specific actions in the municipality began at the beginning of this year.
