The first terminal of this expansion is already being built in Primavera do Leste, about 160 kilometers from Rondonópolis, and the next big step will be the arrival in Lucas do Rio Verde.
With the expansion of Ferronorte, the Port of Santos will also be expanded to meet the new demand, with an expected increase of 10 million tons in cargo capacity. Ivam Jardim, a consultant for Agência Porto Consultoria, emphasizes that the efficiency of railway transportation will be an important differentiator, reducing export costs and making the port even more competitive compared to Ports in the Northern Arc, such as Barcarena in Pará and Itaqui in Maranhão.
