Discover the innovative wind turbine without a propeller created by a visionary startup that promises to revolutionize the renewable energy sector

Vortex Bladeless, a large Spanish company, surprised the market by launching a revolutionary wind turbine that eliminates the use of traditional propellers. This new technology promises be quieter, cheaper and equally efficient in generating clean energy, as reported on the Petrosolgas website.

Wind turbine completely without propellers, discover the new creation of a Spanish startup

Named Vórtez, the new wind turbine without propellers works vertically, moving according to the passage of the wind. Unlike conventional turbines, which use propellers to capture energy from the wind, Vórtez uses vibrations generated by its movement to generate electricity. Initial tests showed that this technology can be up to 30% cheaper than traditional wind turbines, thanks to reduced installation and maintenance costs.

Brazil is one of the leading countries in wind energy generation, and this new technology can boost this market even further. Wind energy is generated by converting the kinetic energy of the wind into electricity through wind turbines. In the case of Vórtez, its innovation lies in the absence of propellers, which makes it a viable option even in areas with lower wind speeds.

Advantages and challenges of wind energy

Wind energy is a clean, renewable energy source, but it also presents challenges. Among the advantages are the reduced dependence on fossil fuels, the diversification of the energy matrix and the creation of jobs. On the other hand, the dependence on wind constancy, the visual and sound impact of turbines and interference with wildlife are challenges to be considered.

This new approach from Vortex Bladeless could represent a significant advance in the field of wind energy, opening doors to a more efficient and affordable generation of clean energy.

How does a traditional wind energy turbine work?

Conventional wind turbines have large propellers that are designed to capture the kinetic energy of the wind. The blades are positioned to capture the maximum amount of wind possible. When the wind hits the blades, it exerts an aerodynamic force that causes the blades to begin rotating around a central axis, similar to the rotor of a helicopter. .

With this, the movement of the blades is transferred to a central axis that is connected to a generator. This axis transfer mechanical energy to the generator. The generator converts the mechanical energy received from the shaft into electrical energy. This process happens through electromagnetic induction, where the rotation of the shaft generates a magnetic field that, in turn, induces electric current in the generator cables.

The electricity generated is then transmitted through cables to a substation, where the voltage is adjusted and the electricity is distributed to the electrical grid. Wind turbines are equipped with control and monitoring systems that adjust the orientation of the blades to optimize wind capture.
