“The New Solar Power Plant Can Generate Jobs,” Is What the State Environment Council (Coema) Decided to Invest in for the State of Ceará with the Approval of the Plant in Ceará
This Thursday morning (6), the State Environment Council (Coema) favorably approved, along with the State Superintendence of the Environment (Semace), a great novelty: a solar power plant currently called Bom Lugar Norte.

According to information from the Ceará City Hall portal, a notice was released with a report confirming the compliance standards of the solar power plant project. The legislation for environmental control and protection issued a positive opinion approving the operation of the solar power plant, which could generate over 1,000 jobs by next year.
Positive Impact with the Arrival of the Solar Power Plant
Generating more job openings and internship opportunities, both directly and indirectly, this may be the solution for the economy of the state of Ceará. This was undoubtedly the requirement that was missing for Semace to issue the installation license for the project, designed to operate with six plants, generating 216.7 megawatts over an area of 454 hectares of three farms located in Icó, in the Central-South region. The document will be issued with a list of conditions that increase control and ensure the mitigation of environmental impacts.

About the Plant Project
With this solar power plant project, the impacts listed in the study are more positive than negative. According to the responsible biologist, Luis Augusto Cordeiro, “they are relatively lower than in wind power plants and much lower compared to the construction of a hydroelectric power plant.”
The negative impacts will be more frequent during the installation phase of the complex, when the positive impacts on the economy of the region are greater. According to the project’s technical manager, Miguel Lobo, Bom Lugar Norte will generate, in the initial phase, 400 direct jobs and 700 indirect jobs. The construction is expected to start in the second half of 2021 and should last for one year.
