The German automaker Audi announced a new concept of electric car that can transform into a pickup truck. The model has over 400 horsepower and offers 600 km of range.
Audi recently announced its latest autonomous electric car prototype, called Activeshpere. The model is a sleek four-door SUV with a futuristic style, a lower profile roof, and large 22-inch wheels. Ready to race on the road and in more obstacle-filled places, the new electric car from Audi has been nicknamed “master of metamorphosis,” due to a feature that allows it to transform from an SUV into a pickup truck at the push of a button.
Audi Electric Car That Turns Into Pickup Comes With 100 kWh Battery
With a length of 4.98 meters, the bed is not one of the largest, but it is enough to carry two bicycles and sports equipment, for example. According to the German automaker, the pickup truck features a motorized bulkhead that unfolds from the rear seats and isolates the cabin.
Simultaneously, the rear glass rises to the roof, and the door that provides access to the trunk folds horizontally. The result is a new cargo compartment. Based on Audi’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, the electric car utilizes an 800-volt charging system, with its powerful 100 kWh battery, providing a range of approximately 600 km.

The Activeshpere is equipped with two electric motors, one on each axle, with all-wheel drive and 436 horsepower. The concept also features adaptive air suspension, which can expand and reduce by 4 cm from its standard position.
The ground clearance is 24.8 cm. The off-road capability is still present, as the prototype features transparent glass surfaces at the bottom of the doors and at the front, which contributes to visibility when navigating on tougher tracks, according to Audi.
Audi Activeshpere Features Interior Full of Technology
Described by Audi as a symbol of organization and clarity, the interior of the pickup is even more interesting. The steering wheel and pedals, for example, disappear when the driver activates the car’s autonomous mode.
Another very interesting feature of the vehicle is its mixed reality glasses, which display essential data to the driver and can even control certain settings of the model through gestures and virtual buttons.
The automaker highlights that this feature of the electric car is particularly user-friendly, and the virtual control is user-focused so that the driver can interact more comfortably. The user interface, that is, the virtual display, responds to changes in real time.
In the end, it is worth noting that Audi’s new electric concept SUV is not a production model. The vehicle serves as a testing laboratory for the brand to announce technologies that should arrive in cars of the future.
Audi May Start Producing Electric Cars in Brazil in 2029
In 2029, Audi may begin its electric car manufacturing process in Brazil. This information was seen as a real opportunity following an announcement made on January 3 by Gerd Walker, a member of the Board for Production and Logistics.
At the time, it was stated that by 2029, all of the automaker’s plants would produce at least one electric vehicle, and by 2033, only electric models would be manufactured.
Audi’s press office, in turn, stated that, depending on local conditions, the production of combustion engine cars will be gradually phased out by the beginning of the next decade.
