The Ministry of Planning
The Ministry of Planning, Development, and Management (MP) is an agency of the Brazilian federal government responsible for formulating planning policies and promoting the sustainable development of the country. Its mission is to coordinate the preparation and implementation of the Multiannual Plan (PPA), which establishes the guidelines, objectives, and targets of the government for a four-year period.
In addition, the MP is responsible for coordinating actions to modernize public management, promoting efficiency and quality in public services, and coordinating with other government agencies and entities to achieve the government’s strategic objectives.
Throughout its history, the Ministry of Planning has undergone various reforms and restructuring to adapt to changes in the country’s economic and political context. In 2019, the MP was incorporated into the Ministry of Economy, as part of an administrative reorganization carried out by the federal government. This integration aimed to centralize economic and management policies in a single agency, aiming for greater efficiency and synergy among related areas.
