With Its Own Fleet of Chinese Electrics and Level III-A Armoring, Rhino Grows 30% a Month and Is Already Targeting Operations in Rio de Janeiro
When Russian businessman Daniil Segunin arrived in São Paulo in 2021, he was surprised by the urban security scenario. Noticing the number of executives relying on armored vehicles, he identified a business opportunity. Three years later, in 2024, Rhino was born, a company that presents itself as a premium version of transportation apps, but with an exclusive fleet of armored cars.
Operation and Growth in the Paulista Market
In just over a year and a half of operation, Rhino has already totaled approximately 300,000 services in São Paulo.
The platform operates in three areas: quick rides, scheduled rides, and concierge service, the latter aimed at long-distance travels, including interstate.

The main focus at the moment is on quick rides. They concentrate demand in neighborhoods of the expanded center of the capital, such as Itaim, Moema, and Paraíso.
The average wait time is seven minutes, and the average fare per ride hovers around R$ 70.
Segunin states that the next step will be to launch this same format in Rio de Janeiro, expanding the brand’s presence in the southeast axis.
Own Fleet of Armored Vehicles and Quality Standard
Despite the inevitable comparison to Uber, Rhino has a distinct model. The company maintains its own fleet and adopts strict selection criteria for its drivers.
Any candidate can try, but they must go through different assessment stages and a one-day intensive training.
The executive gives a simple example: since the cars belong to the company, drivers are instructed never to turn off the air conditioning.
The standardization is also reflected in the vehicles. After testing models like Corolla Cross, Taos, and Jeep Compass, the final choice was the Chinese BYD Song Plus, considered the most efficient in satisfaction metrics.
All vehicles receive level III-A armoring, the maximum allowed for civilians in Brazil. However, the number of cars in circulation is not disclosed by the company.
Investments and Financial Results
Since its debut, Rhino has attracted attention from international funds. There have been three rounds of investment in less than two years.
The most significant occurred in late 2024, when the company raised US$ 3 million. Among the investors was a fund from London, whose identity is kept confidential.
Revenue is growing at a rapid pace. According to Segunin, the company’s revenue increases about 30% month over month.
He explains that Rhino could already operate at financial balance, but chose to reinvest resources to accelerate growth in the market.
For the businessman, focusing on rapid growth is strategic. “We could have different results if we prioritized balance now, but we chose to inject more resources because accelerating is more important at this moment,” he emphasized.
Perspectives
With the Paulista market consolidated and expansion to Rio de Janeiro on the way, Rhino seeks to establish itself as a reference in safe transportation.
The investment in its own fleet, standardization, and armoring reinforces the proposal to offer differentiators in an increasingly competitive sector.
