The Mega Project of the Solar Plant in Ceará Will Be Built in Jaguaruana, in the Valley of Jaguaribe, in the State of Ceará. It Is Estimated That Hundreds of New Jobs Will Be Generated in the Region

The solar plant project by the group Kroma Energia, a Pernambuco energy company, announced this Friday (29) that construction will begin in January 2023. The mega project, which has a potential of 500 MW (Megawatts), will receive around R$ 1.7 billion in investments, to be divided into two phases, which promise to create more than 700 job openings.

Future Solar Plant in Ceará Promises to Generate Hundreds of New Jobs in the Jaguaribe Region

According to Kroma Energia’s timeline, the investment will be R$ 860 million in the first phase, which is expected to be completed by mid-July 2024.

For the second phase of the works, which is scheduled for completion around mid-2025, the other half of the investment, also amounting to R$ 860 million, will be applied.

According to the solar energy company, the new complex will encompass about 8 photovoltaic plants and will generate 800 new jobs in the Valley of Jaguaribe. In recent years, Ceará has been striving to become a reference state in solar energy generation, just like Bahia.

Energy Potential of the State of Ceará

Kroma Energia has come to see the state of Ceará, especially in the interior cities, as having a high and robust potential for long-term investments. Since 2018, the Apodi Complex has been operational in the municipality of Quixeré.

In Apodi, there are at least half a million photovoltaic panels installed by Kroma Energia, in an area equivalent to 400 soccer fields. In total, it is estimated that R$ 700 million has been invested in the construction of the solar energy generating complex in Quixeré.

According to the energy company, in addition to the Jaguaruana project, Kroma also has another solar plant in the final stages of planning, to be added to its portfolio of future projects. This project will also be implemented in Quixeré and will be called Complexo Frei Damião.

The initial investment is estimated to be R$ 650 million, with an energy potential of 192 MW. According to the solar energy company, construction is expected to begin in 2025, creating at least 500 jobs.
