The Numbers Make Clear The Importance Of The Midwest For Operators As A Strategic Support Point For The Country, That Provides Capillarity And Access To Loads From The South And Southeast To The North And Northeast
The growth of the presence of Logistics Operators (OLs) in the Midwest region, with a 25% increase in facilities over the past two years, was highlighted by ABOL’s Executive Director, Marcella Cunha, during her participation in the first panel this Tuesday at Centro Oeste Export. The significant increase is part of the data obtained in the study of the new profile of OLs, developed in partnership with the ILOS Institute. The material was completed about a month ago.
“The numbers make clear the importance of the Midwest for the Operators as a strategic support point for the country, which provides capillarity and access to loads from the South and Southeast to the North and Northeast. However, despite the promising scenario, we see the need for improvements, such as adequate infrastructure and a more strategic view of industrialization, diversifying the niches of activities developed in the region. Even with roadworks, we still see accidents and bottlenecks. We can no longer allow this situation to compromise the flow of products”, said Marcella.
She emphasized, especially, investments directed towards city perimeters, narrowing the distances between stopping points and contributing to the reduction of freight and lead time, for example. “There are OLs transporting refrigerated loads who are forced to stop off-route, meaning they need more support points along the way”.

The ABOL director also took the opportunity to mention relevant government initiatives and projects, such as Voo Simples – to ensure greater availability of airports for receiving international cargo and to streamline the modal – the BR do Mar and the new Legal Framework for railways. “I am very pleased to hear from Marcelo about the company’s focus on using the modal for internal supply of the country”, said Marcella, referring to the comment made by the president of Brado Logística, Marcelo Saraiva, who also participated in the debates.
The CEO of the company, one of ABOL’s associates, presented Brado’s forecasts, which is expected to reach 3 million tons of cargo movement by rail in containers. He also spoke about the change in route with a focus on the domestic market. Brado is preparing to serve the domestic market along the Anápolis (GO) – São Paulo axis, and the import and export markets from Goiás, connecting industries and major agricultural producers to the Port of Santos. “The Midwest is a thriving region. We are arriving and being very well received”.
