The numbers make clear the importance of the Midwest for Operators as a strategic support point for the country, which provides capillarity and access to cargo from the South and Southeast to the North and Northeast

The growth in the presence of Logistics Operators (OLs) in the Midwest region, with a 25% increase in installations in the last two years, was highlighted by the executive director of ABOL, Marcella Cunha, during her participation in the first panel this Tuesday of Centro Oeste Export. The significant increase integrates the data obtained in the study of the new profile of the OL, developed in partnership with the ILOS Institute. The material was ready about a month ago.

“The numbers make clear the importance of the Midwest for Operators as a strategic support point for the country, which provides capillarity and access to cargo from the South and Southeast to the North and Northeast. However, despite the promising scenario, we see the need for improvements, such as adequate infrastructure and a more strategic look at industrialization, diversifying the niches of activities developed in the region. Even with works on highways, we still see accidents and bottlenecks. We can no longer allow this situation to compromise the flow of products”, said Marcella.

She highlighted, above all, investments aimed at city perimeters, narrowing the distances between stopping points and contributing to the reduction of freight and lead time, for example. “There are OLs that transport refrigerated cargo being forced to stop off the route, that is, needing more support points along the way”.

The ABOL director also took the opportunity to mention relevant government initiatives and projects, such as Voo Simples – to ensure greater availability of airports to receive international cargo and reduce bureaucracy in the modal – BR do Mar and the new Legal Framework for railroads. “It makes me very happy to hear from Marcelo about the company's focus on using the modal for the country's internal supply”, said Marcella, referring to the comment made by the president of Brado Logística, Marcelo Saraiva, who also took part in the debates.

The CEO of the company, one of ABOL's associates, presented Brado's forecasts, which should reach the handling of 3 million tons of cargo by rail in container. He also spoke about the change of course with a view to the domestic market. Brado is getting ready to serve the domestic market on the Anápolis (GO) – São Paulo axis, and the import and export markets from Goiás, connecting industries and the main agricultural producers to the Port of Santos. “The Midwest is a thriving region. We are arriving and being very well received”.
