Generating Falcons’ Solar Energy Project Could Generate Savings of Up to R$ 6 Thousand for Benefited Residents
According to estimates from Generating Falcons, each family benefiting from the solar panels will save between R$ 4 thousand and R$ 6 thousand per year on electricity bills.
Furthermore, families can also participate in a free community leadership course, and it is estimated that the solar energy project could generate an additional 350 jobs in the community. Another part of the project is the urban renewal of the entire community thanks to a partnership made with the São Paulo state government.
In total, the investment will reach R$ 58 million, divided between the state government, Generating Falcons, and the municipality of São José do Rio Preto. The idea is that the installation of solar panels and the construction of affordable houses will be completed by next year.
Meet Generating Falcons
The Generating Falcons institute was created to encourage young people from the periphery to fight for a better future and transform their reality. The movement began in 2011, with small actions and big ideas from young entrepreneur Eduardo Lyra, who was born and raised in a slum in São Paulo.
Currently, the Institute is present in various peripheries, communities, and prisons, working in three areas: culture, sports, and income. The projects have positively impacted the lives of more than 100,000 children and teenagers, allowing young people to see a broader range of advancement options and life projects.
