About 11 years later in 1982, the BR Distribuidora brand was modernized, again by the hands of Aloísio Magalhães. This time, the logo of the fuel distributor received the contours it currently has, which were utilized by BR Distribuidora for the past 40 years.
Vibra Energia Talks About the New Brand
In a statement to the market, Vibra Energia, named after the privatization process, stated that the new brand aims to convey to the customer the trust that connects, constant evolution, and genuine partnerships.
According to Vibra Energia, the name and design reference the constant movement needed to drive businesses and people forward, without losing sight of a Brazil that accomplishes, creates, and goes beyond.
This will not yet be the definitive end of the “BR” from the fuel company. In the vehicle market, Vibra Energia is licensed under the Petrobras brand and will continue with the visual identity and symbol “BR,” operating a network of at least 8,300 fuel stations across the country.
Company Privatization
In July 2019, the company underwent privatization with the sale of the controlling stake on the stock exchange, making BR Distribuidora a private company. Petrobras, which executed the sale, still retained 37.5% of the company’s shares, without ruling out the sale of this remaining portion.
According to Roberto Castelo Branco, president of Petrobras at the time, the company would focus on oil and gas exploration and production, relinquishing other operations; however, plans changed, and the company will also focus on energies.
One year after the privatization, in July 2021, Petrobras disposed of the remaining shares of the company. A total of over 436 million shares were sold, generating a total of R$ 11.3 billion with the investment fund.
