In October 2024, the oil platforms with the highest production registered impressive numbers, despite a significant decline in national oil and gas production. The production of barrels of oil equivalent (boe/d) in the period was 4.268 million barrels per day, a reduction of 271 thousand boe/d compared to September. In the oil segment, the negative variation was 5.8%, reaching 3.268 million barrels per day.

Maintenance shutdowns and challenges in the pre-salt directly impacted these results from the oil platforms, leading to a 9.1% reduction in the polygon’s production, according to data from the National Agency of Petroleum (ANP). The share of the pre-salt in national production fell from 81.2% to 78.4%, contrasting with the record set in the previous month.

Production Leaders on the Oil Platforms: FPSO Guanabara Remains on Top

The first position among the oil platforms with the highest production was once again occupied by FPSO Guanabara, located in the Mero field. With a production of 256,538 barrels of oil equivalent per day, the platform stood out as the most efficient of the month. Below is the complete ranking of the 10 largest platforms in October 2024:

Reflections on the Oil and Gas Sector

Even with the challenges faced in October, the performance of the oil platforms with the highest production reinforces the relevance of the pre-salt for the Brazilian energy industry. However, operational complexity and the need for constant maintenance represent barriers to maintaining record extraction levels.

The October numbers highlight the potential for recovery and the strategic role of these platforms in meeting national and international energy demands, even in a global energy transition scenario.

Na margem equatorial do Brasil ainda não foi permitido exploração.
Já existe produção na Guiana com capacidade próxima ao nosso Pré Sal e no Suriname.
