In order to mitigate the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic in communities where Transpetro is already active, around 20,000 families will benefit during the months of June, July, and August with the delivery of 992 tons of food.
According to the statement, the project began in May, with a pilot action carried out in the Parque Savoy neighborhood, eastern region of São Paulo. At that time, 2,300 baskets were delivered. In the current cycle of the project, which takes place between 06/09 and 06/19, the company is providing 20,000 baskets to residents of the cities of Cubatão, Guarulhos, Itaquaquecetuba, Osasco, Santo André, and São Paulo.
“Each basic basket weighs 16 kilograms and is composed of 20 items, including food and cleaning products, such as rice, beans, pasta, powdered milk, toilet paper, liquid detergent, soap, and bleach”, informs Petrobras.
Transpetro received assistance from partners (residents’ associations and health posts) to select the beneficiary families and to define the delivery logistics in the communities. The basket deliveries occur through the distribution of personal and non-transferable cards and passwords.
Distribution with Safety
One of the prerequisites established by Transpetro for the distribution of baskets was to avoid crowding, in compliance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health. Those responsible for distribution must respect the necessary distancing and be equipped with gloves and masks, in addition to using hand sanitizer, provided by Transpetro.
