Petrobras Transporte allocated R$ 5 million for the purchase and delivery of almost 62 basic food baskets and hygiene kits in 12 communities in greater São Paulo.
With the aim of mitigating the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic in communities where Transpetro already operates, around 20 families will benefit during the months of June, July and August with the delivery of 992 tons of food.
According to the statement, the project began in May, with a pilot action carried out in the Parque Savoy neighborhood, in the eastern region of São Paulo. On that occasion, 2.300 baskets were delivered. In the current cycle of the project, which takes place between the 9th and 19th of June, the company provides 6 baskets to residents of the cities of Cubatão, Guarulhos, Itaquaquecetuba, Osasco, Santo André and São Paulo.
“Each basic basket has 16 kilos and is composed of 20 items, including food and cleaning products, such as rice, beans, pasta, powdered milk, toilet paper, liquid detergent, soap and chlorine”, informs Petrobras
Transpetro had the help of partners (resident associations and health centers) to select the beneficiary families and to define the delivery logistics in the communities. The delivery of the baskets takes place through the distribution of a card and password, which are personal and non-transferable.
Secure distribution
One of the prerequisites defined by Transpetro for the distribution of baskets was to avoid crowds, in compliance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health. Those responsible for distribution must respect the necessary distance and be equipped with gloves and masks, in addition to using gel alcohol, donated by Transpetro.
