Petrobras starts a new pre-shipment procedure to enable the gradual increase in its offshore workforce on platforms in the Búzios asset

According to the Petrobras report, as of Monday, 27/07, professionals who embark for the Búzios active platforms will undergo a new pre-boarding routine. Petrobras begins contracting process for three new FPSO-type platforms for the Búzios field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt

According to the state-owned company, the procedure will be implemented gradually in the other offshore units, after evaluation to increase the face-to-face staff.

This July, Petrobras started risk assessment to plan the gradual and safe return to face-to-face work at some units. In this phase, the implementation of new preventive barriers is planned, according to the nature of each unit, to reinforce security.

“In this scenario, we are starting a new pre-shipment procedure initially for the Búzios asset (P-74, P-75, P-76 and P-77). After the evaluation phase, the procedure will be expanded to the other owned platforms, after analysis to increase the on-site staff,” said Petrobras

New pre-shipment procedure adopted by Petrobras to increase the offshore workforce

As of 27/07, in addition to pre-shipment home monitoring, employees who work on these platforms will undergo an RT-PCR test, which identifies the presence of genetic material from the virus, before boarding. In the case of employees who do not live in the departure location, the last period of isolation (up to 3 days) will be in a hotel, to collect the test and wait for the result. Employees with a positive test will be sent to isolation with medical monitoring.

Whether at the hotel or at home, employees will be instructed to maintain strict preventive care against Covid-19, especially after the collection has taken place. The trip for boarding must also follow strict safety standards, so that, after the test, the employee does not have contact with possible forms of contagion.

With the change, the work schedule for employees working in Búzios will once again be 14 x 21, and for employees residing outside Rio de Janeiro, in the last 3 days off, the employee will be at a hotel to comply with the new health protocol. The period in a hotel will be treated with a credit of 8 hours per day in the hour bank.

All employees of the unit (employees and employees of service providers) will be tested, with the exception of those who have had confirmation of contagion by RT PCR and have already been discharged.

This strategy was thought of as another barrier to prevent contagion, in addition to the others already implemented (such as the use of masks, reinforced hygiene and distancing between people, for example). In this way, the gradual increase in the occupancy of the units will be made possible, safely. The results will be monitored by health specialists. The new procedure will be implemented, gradually, in the other units with confinement, according to the market's service capacity in relation to inputs and specialized services for testing.
