For the Land Cruiser, Toyota’s classic model to continue circulating on the streets, the manufacturer conducted research in order to produce the main parts of the vehicle missing in the market
In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Land Cruiser Series 40, Toyota decided to produce the necessary parts to keep the classic model in good condition so that it can continue to circulate on the streets. In Brazil, it is known as Bandeirante, produced until 2001. The first successful model of Toyota internationally, the Land Cruiser 40 arrived in the U.S. in the mid-1950s and reached Brazilian factories three years later, making the country the first to have a factory from the manufacturer outside Japan.

Toyota Conducts Research to Keep the Classic Land Cruiser on the Streets
To manufacture truly necessary parts, Toyota consulted Land Cruiser dealerships and also conducted research with clubs of owners and fans of the model. Once this was done, the Japanese manufacturer listed the most needed parts to keep the Land Cruiser 40 in condition to circulate on Brazilian streets.
The items, according to owners and dealers, are the most difficult to find in the automotive parts market. In summary, the parts and components of the Land Cruiser refer to the brake, suspension, and steering assemblies, but Toyota will also produce engine, exhaust, and transmission parts. The complete list of parts for the classic has not been disclosed by Toyota.

How to Find the Parts That Are Missing in the Market?
To know or request the part that is difficult to find, the owner of a Land Cruiser can access the website of Toyota, informing which item is missing. It is worth noting that there is no guarantee that the brand will respond automatically, but the more requests, the more likely and faster the production of the classic parts will be.
According to the manufacturer, all regions of the world will be covered with the new parts by 2022. On this site, Toyota requires the indication of the region and country, as well as the model’s age and generation, listing the BJ, HJ, and FJ. The mileage, model year, body type, engine models, fuel type, transmission model, gearbox type, and other information will also be necessary.
The questionnaire is somewhat extensive, but it will greatly help the manufacturer find the most pressing needs of the owners of the classic Bandeirante. It is worth noting that in Brazil, Toyota’s Jeep had original engines until 1962 and after 1994 began to use Mercedes-Benz engines.
Get to Know the Toyota Bandeirante
As previously mentioned, the Bandeirante was initially assembled in Brazil, still under the name Land Cruiser FJ-251, starting in January 1958. The manufacturing of the Bandeirante in Brazil was nationalized around 1962 and its production was halted in November 2001.
During this period, 103,750 units were manufactured, which combined with the Land Cruisers assembled in CKD total 104,621. The model is known for its robustness and ability to move on challenging terrains for passenger cars.
Between the years 58 and 62, it was equipped with the Toyota 2F engine, a low-rev 4.0 gasoline engine that has 6 cylinders and delivers a power of 110 horsepower.
