The Multinational Electrolux Announced Million-Dollar Investments in the Construction of a New Factory in Paraná. Over 2,000 Jobs Will Be in the Region.
The Swedish multinational Electrolux, a leader in appliances, announced this Tuesday (2) the investment in the construction of its new factory in Paraná, which is expected to generate thousands of jobs. The unit will be the third in the state and the fifth in Brazil. This time, the refrigerator and freezer factory will be located in the municipality of São José dos Pinhais, in the metropolitan region of Curitiba. The other two units in the capital of Paraná will continue operating normally.
Multinational Electrolux to Invest R$ 700 Million
The company’s total investment in Paraná, which will create various jobs, will amount to R$ 700 million. A large portion of this amount will be directed towards the construction of the new unit; however, part will remain in the Curitiba factory for the production of new products.
The investment plan for Electrolux foresees that the factory in São José dos Pinhais should generate 500 direct jobs and over 1,400 indirect jobs from the supply chain. According to data from the city hall, the city has 37,328 workers employed in the industrial sector.

In Dubai, rising tensions from the war in the Middle East are causing super-rich individuals to leave the Gulf and direct their fortunes to a new financial refuge in Asia.
The projection is that the construction will begin within a month, with the completion of the first phase in the last quarter of next year, covering 50,000 square meters of built area.
In this phase, the multinational’s project, which will bring jobs to the population, will start production operating at 30% of total capacity, which will be reached with the project’s completion in 2025. The site will feature space dedicated to strategic suppliers.
According to the COO of Electrolux Group Latin America, Ramez Chamma, this will be an expansion of the unit located in the Guabirotuba neighborhood in Curitiba. The new factory will increase the current production of refrigerators and freezers of the brand in Paraná by 25%.
Multinational Plans to Manufacture Other Appliances in Brazil
The Guabirotuba unit recently received an investment of US$ 40 million for upgrades. The group’s other factory in the capital of Paraná is responsible for producing vacuum cleaners and high-pressure washing machines in the Cidade Industrial de Curitiba neighborhood, which houses a diverse range of industries in the capital.
In addition to expanding the production of its products, the multinational Electrolux is exploring the opportunity to manufacture other brand appliances that are currently not produced in the country. Chamma assesses that imports account for 30% of the company’s revenue in Brazil. It could be a competitive advantage to also manufacture these items in the new unit in Paraná.
The announcement of the investment in the new factory, which will bring more jobs to residents, was made at a ceremony at the Palácio Iguaçu, the seat of the Paraná government, in the presence of Governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior (PSD).
At the event, the renewal of Electrolux’s adherence to the Paraná Competitivo program was signed. The investment attraction program is aimed both at new companies planning to come to the state and at those already operating with expansion plans.
Why Did Electrolux Choose Paraná?
The multinational’s director explains that the choice of the municipality was based primarily on its strategic location and the availability of qualified professionals.
Chamma highlights that it is close to the Afonso Pena International Airport, which is located in the same municipality, the Port of Paranaguá, and the other Electrolux units in Paraná. The choice is also linked to the terrain type, which is very flat and reduces construction costs. The city has historically been industrial, with a skilled workforce.
It is a huge company, with a profile of sustainability and social responsibility, according to Nina Singer, mayor of São José dos Pinhais. According to her, the generation of jobs and the increase in revenue were the main reasons that led the city hall to seek a company of this size to join the industrial park.
