BRS and Grupo 4M Invest R$ 100 Million in Photovoltaic Plants in Bahia and SP, Promoting Distributed Generation and Energy Transition in Brazil.

With a recent investment of R$ 100 million, the partnership between BRS and Grupo 4M announces the launch of two new solar plants in Bahia, as well as connecting the first plant in São Paulo. These investments aim to boost distributed generation and the energy transition in Brazil, strengthening the role of renewable energies in the country.

The new projects include the Alvorada and São José plants in Bahia, with a capacity of 2 MW and 3 MW, respectively, totaling over R$ 31.7 million in investments. In São Paulo, the Taiúva plant, with a capacity of 1 MW, received an investment of R$ 6 million. This initiative not only promotes the construction of modern photovoltaic plants, but also highlights the growing importance of solar projects in the national energy matrix.

Solar Plants in Brazil

Usinas Brasil Solar (BRS), with more than a decade of experience in the photovoltaic energy market and Distributed Generation (GD), already has a pipeline of over 80 MW of solar projects under development across the country. On August 7, 2024, it was announced that solar photovoltaic energy in Brazil has surpassed the mark of 45 gigawatts (GW) in installed capacity, according to data from the Brazilian Photovoltaic Energy Association (Absolar). The Brazilian electric matrix now has a 19% share from solar sources. Furthermore, the photovoltaic segment has already avoided the emission of 55 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) in electricity generation.

Strategic Partnerships and Recent Projects

In light of this promising scenario, BRS, in partnership with Grupo 4M Participações, is inaugurating its first solar plant. The Taiúva Plant, located in the municipality of Taiuva, in the Northwest region of São Paulo state, has a capacity of 1 MW and an expected monthly generation of 197 kWh. CPFL Paulista is the energy distributor in the area, and all energy commercialization will be managed by FIT, Santander’s energy-saving company. Energy delivery is expected to begin in September 2024. In April 2024, BRS and Grupo 4M, a company active in several sectors since 2017, launched five new projects for distributed generation solar plants.

Investments and Expansion of Solar Projects

Two of the new projects are located in the municipality of Quixeré, in Ceará, with the UFV Guaraci at 5 MW and the UFV Dois Irmãos at 1 MW. Three other projects were launched in São Paulo, including the UFV Bebedouro at 3 MW, the UFV Taiúva at 1 MW, and the UFV Araraquara at 1 MW, totaling investments of R$ 65 million and 11 MW of installed capacity. In August 2024, two more projects began in the state of Bahia: the UFV Alvorada at 2 MW in Feira de Santana and the UFV São José at 3 MW in Governador Mangabeira, both plants using Coelba as the energy distributor.

Socioeconomic and Environmental Impact

With these new solar installations, the synergy between BRS and Grupo 4M totals 16 MW in installed capacity and over R$ 96 million in investments. The projects aim to maximize Brazil’s solar potential and significantly contribute to the country’s energy transition. Grupo 4M Participações, already well established in the energy, infrastructure, real estate, and financial markets, has found in BRS the ideal partner to enter the distributed generation market. This collaboration not only aims at environmental preservation and balanced socioeconomic development, but also strengthens the company’s position in the infrastructure market.

BRS Expansion Strategy

By launching five new projects, BRS aims to promote the generation of clean and renewable solar energy in the states where it operates. Furthermore, the initiative will significantly contribute to the generation of local jobs, stimulating socioeconomic development in the regions where the solar plants will be implemented. With more than ten years of experience in the GD photovoltaic energy market, BRS continues to build and enable photovoltaic plants in various regions of Brazil, harnessing available solar energy and contributing to sustainability and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Commitment to Sustainability

Grupo 4M Participações focuses on distributed generation plants as an efficient alternative for decentralized energy production, close to the point of consumption. The solar plant projects aim to take full advantage of the available renewable energy in the regions, contributing to sustainability and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. In this way, Grupo 4M Participações reaffirms its commitment to diversifying investments and sustainable development, investing in renewable energy projects in partnership with BRS.
