Installed at Navship Shipyard in Navegantes, Santa Catarina, the Super Crane Is the Largest Ever Installed in Brazil, Made by the Edison Chouest Group
Last month, a super crane was installed by Navship Shipyard, in the city of Navegantes, in the state of Santa Catarina, on the deck of the vessel Bongo. The crane was manufactured by NOV and has the capacity to lift up to 85 tons. On board the vessel Bongo, the giant crane will assist two ROVs in underwater operations with a total depth of up to 3,000 meters.

All the equipment for the crane arrived at the Port of Itajaí in August 2018 and was brought by the ship BBC XINGANG. After a complicated operation, the parts were directly transferred from the ship to the deck of the PSV Clipper Campos, transporting all the equipment upstream to Navship Shipyard.
The Bongo arrived at Navship Shipyard at the beginning of this year and began preparations for the signing of a new RSV (ROV Support Vessel) contract with Petrobras. In recent months, the ship has been docked, repaired, and upgraded, receiving two ROV installations and a large crane. In the final phase of the shipyard conversion, Bongo underwent a series of tests before heading to Rio de Janeiro.
