The contracts are for activities in offshore and onshore assets spread across the country. The minimum investment that will be made, just during exploration and research, will be 845 million reais, the government guaranteed 3.8 billion in cash just from contract signing bonuses. The Oil Auctions That Will Take Place in 2017, marked a significant milestone in Brazilian exploration history because very different exploration sites were offered.
As Petrobras is no longer required to explore all Brazilian assets, many companies had the chance to make good deals, and that’s exactly what happened. Tax incentives and flexibility in local content were some of the key attractions that made this possible. For the average worker, this means that the new phase will require a lot of specialized labor; technicians and engineers will be in high demand, and it will also indirectly boost the entire industry, as is the case of the city of Maricá-RJ, which experienced a BOOM with the arrival of pre-salt activities in the municipality.
