According to recent information, Tenaris will provide 81 kilometers of thermal insulation coating for risers and flowlines, essential for the Mero 4 production system.
This project not only reinforces Tenaris’s position as an innovative company in the sector but also underscores the importance of the Santos Basin as a key hub for the Brazilian oil industry.

The qualification process for the services is scheduled to take place throughout 2024, with deliveries planned for the following year.
The complexity of the project is evident, as once the coating is complete, the pipes will move to Espírito Santo, where winding and assembly processes will be carried out before the final offshore installation.
The Mero field, operated by a consortium led by Petrobras and composed of giants such as Shell, TotalEnergies, CNODC, and CNOOC, is the third largest in the pre-salt region.
The Mero 4 system, specifically, will have 15 interconnected wells to the FPSO Alexandre de Gusmão, with a capacity to process up to 180,000 barrels daily.
The Impact of the New Contract on the Brazilian Market
This contract marks the fourth major thermal coating project carried out by Tenaris in Brazil in five years, following in the footsteps of Bacalhau, Búzios V, and Mero 3.
Tenaris’s growing presence in the sector, combined with its global supply capability, solidifies its position as a key partner in pre-salt exploration.
Renato Catallini, president of Tenaris in Brazil, expressed the company’s commitment to contributing to the sustainable development of the region.
“We are committed to providing value-added solutions that meet the demands of one of the most challenging exploration and production environments in the world,” reveals Catallini.
