The Contract Between Petrobras and the Italian Company
The contract, valued at approximately €92 million, aims to meet the technological demand for updating installation and operation in offshore projects in Brazil. Steel pipes and thermoplastic umbilicals will be designed, produced, tested, and delivered during 2022-2025 by the Group’s Center of Excellence for underwater dynamic technologies used by Petrobras in Vila Velha.
The components are made of steel and thermoplastic and will be used in deep-water operations and offshore logistics services, that is, on oil exploration platforms at sea.

On July 13, Petrobras’s development director, João Henrique Rittershaussen, gave an interview to epbr, discussing the contracting of an FPSO for a deep-water project in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin. The director emphasizes that Petrobras has already launched a bidding process for the platform and that proposals are expected to be received in 2022.
In the interview, Rittershaussen stated that a bidding process has been initiated for contracting under the Built Operate and Transfer (BOT) model, whereby the charterer operates the platform for a period and later transfers it to Petrobras. The process aims for a unit of the type FPSO.
João Henrique says that the FPSO BOT for the deep-water project in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin is already underway and that companies are actively working on the process. According to him, Petrobras is expected to receive proposals next year. The BOT model is a novelty for Petrobras, although the company had indicated in February this year that it planned to work with this option for deep waters in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin. In the interview, Rittershaussen also highlighted that Petrobras has been making strong efforts to reduce platform deployment time, as well as to decrease construction time and increase the efficiency of the units.
