Petrobras Accumulated 112 Registration Requests at INPI by December 23
Petrobras accumulated 112 patent registration requests at the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). In 2021, the oil company was the Brazilian company with the highest number of requests by last Thursday, December 23. A large part of this year’s projects was designed to meet demands in exploration and production, refining, gas and energy, renewables, and sustainable development projects, such as decarbonization and emission reduction, according to a statement released by Petrobras.

Over the next five years, Petrobras will invest US$ 1.6 billion in digital transformation and innovation, the statement also reports.
According to the announcement, Petrobras surpassed the previous record of 111 patents requested at INPI, set in 2014 by another institution. In addition, the oil company also exceeded its own record of 95 deposits in 2005. Petrobras reminds that the deadline is until December 30.

Petrobras also stated in a communication that it is the Brazilian company with the most active patents, totaling 1,067 in Brazil and abroad.
In the innovation sector, Petrobras has Cenpes, with 147 laboratories and pilot plants installed, and 8,000 pieces of equipment. In addition, it also has partnerships with about one hundred Brazilian institutions, including universities and companies, as well as partnerships with 20 foreign universities and institutes.

Petrobras Signed Another Million-Dollar Contract for the Sale of Its Entire Stake in Oil Fields in Rio Grande do Norte Yesterday (12/27)
Petrobras announced yesterday (12/27), in a material fact to the market, that continuing announcements made on July 9, 2021, and August 9, 2021, it signed with Aguila Energia e Participações Ltda (Aguila) a contract for the transfer, together with Sonangol Hidrocarbonetos Brasil Ltda (Sonangol), of the entirety of both companies’ stakes in the onshore oil exploration block POT-T-794, belonging to the concession BT-POT-55A, located in the Potiguar Basin, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
The concession BT-POT-55A was acquired in 2006 during the 7th Round of Licensing Blocks held by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).
