The executive also stated that the oil company has been evaluating investments in the hydrogen and nuclear energy sectors. “At this moment, we are studying what could be the best alternatives,” declared Rafael, who will assume the position starting December 16.
The future director’s statement calmed investors. Although Petrobras’s Business Plan for 2022-2026 was well received by the market, analysts expressed concern that Petrobras did not plan to invest in the wind and solar energy segments.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.
About Investments in Renewable Energies
Investment in renewable energies, such as solar and wind, offers significant ecological advantages. Because they are clean and inexhaustible ways to generate energy, as they do not pollute the environment due to zero CO² emissions, this is a segment with increasing investments and great importance for contributing to sustainability. Therefore, it is very valuable for large companies like Petrobras to consider investing in this.
Wind energy harnesses the power of winds to generate electricity, while solar energy uses light or heat radiated by the Sun for the same purpose.
Refining Advertising Campaigns
Regarding the divestment from Refining, Petrobras intends to relaunch, in 2022, the teasers for the refineries Alberto Pasqualini (Refap), in Rio Grande do Sul, and Presidente Getúlio Vargas (Repar), in Paraná. The plan was revealed by the Financial and Investor Relations Directors, Rodrigo Araujo Alves, and the Refining & Natural Gas Director, Rodrigo Costa Lima e Silva.
However, the release of the new teasers depends on adjusting a new schedule and agreements with the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade).
In addition, Petrobras announced at the end of November the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan, which foresees investments of US$ 68 billion, with most of it allocated to the E&P segment. The second largest investment will be in the Refining area.
